1,000 days since October 7. 1,000 days of pain, testimony, and families demanding justice. 1,000 days of survivors carrying truths no one should ever have to carry. 1,000 days later, our fight remains clear: for recognition, for memory, for justice, and for the truth. We will not allow it to be erased.

The evidence. At the United Nations. In front of those who refused to see it. Three years after October 7, Silenced No More — our comprehensive documentation of Hamas’ sexual crimes on October 7 and against hostages in captivity — was presented at the UN Third Committee in New York. For three years, victims were doubted. Evidence was questioned. Silence was defended as uncertainty. Not anymore. The evidence exists. The record exists. And now it is being placed before the world. The truth cannot be silenced. And it will not be forgotten. Watch. Share. Remember. @CochavElkayam

THREE YEARS AFTER OCTOBER 7 | The Haifa Speech: Truth in an Age of Denial “October 7 confronted us not only with atrocity, but with a crisis of truth.” As we mark three years since October 7, we return to a speech that names one of the defining struggles of its aftermath: the struggle over truth itself. At the Haifa Conference on Contemporary Antisemitism, *Dr. Cochav Elkayam-Levy articulated “the epistemic dimension of antisemitism:* the way antisemitism can operate not only through hatred or hostility, but by destabilizing the conditions under which truth is established—whose testimony is believed, whose evidence is considered credible, whose suffering is recognized, and ultimately, what enters the historical record.” “October 7 confronted us not only with atrocity, but with a crisis of truth. The crimes and their denial unfolded almost simultaneously. Nowhere was this more painfully visible than in the response to the sexual violence committed on October 7 and against hostages in captivity. That experience transformed the work of the Civil Commission. Documentation became more than the preservation of evidence. It became epistemic resistance—feminist resistance, humanistic resistance: an effort to protect the factual record when the record itself was under attack.” Three years later, this question has only become more urgent. What future generations know about October 7 will depend on what we preserve, establish, and refuse to allow to be erased today. The struggle for truth is therefore also a struggle over memory—and over the future that memory will make possible. Watch “Truth in an Age of Denial” — the Haifa Speech. Evidence can disappear. Truth must not. Today, Adv. Merav Israeli-Amarant, CEO of the Civil Commission, spoke at the international conference “From Chaos to Justice” in Tel Aviv. Participating in the session “Lessons from October 7: Documenting Sexual and Gender-Based Violence Linked to Terrorism,” Merav addressed one of the most urgent lessons emerging from October 7: evidence of sexual violence must be documented and preserved from the earliest stages of a crisis — even when survivors and witnesses are not yet able to speak. agenda updated.pdf As she emphasized: “Documenting sexual violence in mass atrocities is not only about collecting evidence—it is about ensuring that the truth can withstand denial, distortion, and time. In the chaos that follows an attack, crucial evidence can be scattered, overlooked, or lost, while survivors and witnesses may need months or years before they are able to speak. The Civil Commission’s work shows why, from the earliest moments of a crisis, there must be trauma-informed systems to document, preserve, and rigorously investigate the evidence, so that sexual violence is neither erased from the historical record nor denied by the world.” This is why documentation cannot wait. Because what is not preserved today can be denied tomorrow.

Our work does not stop — and neither does its reach. In a recent episode of The @DrPhil Podcast, Nova survivor Noa Beer spoke about the urgent need for survivors to be believed. Findings from our report were presented as part of that conversation, bringing the evidence we have documented into a major international platform. This is precisely why our work matters: to transform testimony into a documented evidentiary record that confronts denial, strengthens survivors’ voices, and advances truth, accountability, and justice. 1,000 days after October 7. At the Herzliya Conference, Dr. @CochavElkayam , Chair of the Civil Commission and Israel Prize laureate, delivered a clear message: “The question is no longer whether these crimes occurred. The question is whether the world will have the courage to act upon the truth.” The evidence has been preserved. The truth has been documented. Now, the responsibility is to act. @ReichmanUni #HerzliyaConference #1000Days #October7 #HumanRights #Truth #SilencedNoMore

Important update🙌🏻 I said many times this week that human rights begin with the people behind governments and institutions — I believe that this is where new bridges of solidarity are built. I’ve had the honor and privilege to meet @Dabokunda Awa Dabo, the newly appointed UN Deputy High Commissioner for Human Rights. We spoke candidly about October 7th and documenting conflict-related sexual violence: the unimaginable suffering of survivors and their families, the reality of kinocidal sexual violence, and the growing scourge of digital crimes that continue to violate victims long after the attacks. One sentence from her that will stay with me is that - survivors’ voices are the starting point of every real change. Their voices, across nations, cultures, and borders, must guide our future and shape new partnerships for justice. In our discussion we shared the devastating reality revealed in our report Silenced No More report: Conflict-related sexual violence has evolved. It has become more organized, more public, and more technologically amplified. Certainly, the connections and relationships we build together will be critical to fighting it. Thank you, @Dabokunda. I look forward to turning these conversations into partnerships, concrete action and justice. Grateful to @WorldJewishCong for facilitating this important meeting. #HumanRights #Accountability #Justice #October7 #ConflictRelatedSexualViolence #SilencedNoMore

At the United Nations, Dr. @CochavElkayam delivered a powerful call for accountability. The systematic sexual violence committed by Hamas against Israeli women and girls on October 7 and in captivity cannot be ignored, denied, or minimized. Justice begins with acknowledging the truth and ensuring these crimes are never forgotten. Their voices matter. Their testimonies matter. 🎥 @UNWatch

BREAKING: Dr. Cochav Elkayam-Levy, founder and chair of the Civil Commission on October 7 Crimes by Hamas Against Women and Children, challenges the U.N. over its failure to stand with Israeli victims. @CochavElkayam's powerful testimony on behalf of UN Watch: Our Civil Commission’s report, Silenced No More, was recently presented to you. Drawing on an extensive historical archive, we assembled the most comprehensive evidentiary record of the sexual crimes of October 7 and in captivity. For two years, we immersed ourselves in testimonies of unimaginable violence. We revealed 13 patterns of abuse — including rape, gang rape, sexual torture, and the deliberate mutilation of victims’ faces and genitalia. Victims were filmed while being tortured. Families were forced to see the suffering of their loved ones. We had to coin a new legal term – kinocidal sexual violence – to describe the deliberate sexual torture of family members. This terror was made for visibility. Women’s bodies became spectacles of war. This was also a calculated strategy, repeated again and again. The truth is that Hamas created a blueprint for others to follow, putting women at risk worldwide. Finally, the question is no longer whether the crimes occurred. But what is the world do about it. Speaking for so many Israeli women who care about women’s rights, we were heartbroken by your response. Where is your compassion? Will the UN rapporteurs who doubted or denied these crimes acknowledge the truth? Israeli victims were not merely abandoned. They were singled out, dehumanized, delegitimized. We are now left to face a world consumed by hatred, and with an international system that fuels it. Will anything change? We call upon you to recognize our findings. And let this be the beginning of change. @theCC07

“Let this be the beginning of change.” Today at U.N. Headquarters, I addressed the Human Rights Council with a simple message: silence is not an option, and human dignity is not negotiable. Change begins when we choose truth over indifference. #HumanRights #UN #SilencedNoMore
