When we came in,the state was owing gratuity from 1998-2008 of over N16b. As of today, all gratuities have been fully paid-Gov Peter Obi

Debunking the Phantom Debts and Ecological Loan Fallacy My attention has been drawn to trending claims by the Anambra State Government that my administration left behind inherited debts, including a ₦2 billion ecological loan, contractor liabilities, and unpaid salaries, gratuities, and pensions. This is completely false. We systematically liquidated historical gratuities and arrears dating back several years, amounting to over ₦35 billion. At the point of handover, the state owed nothing in salaries, gratuities, or pensions, nor did we owe anything to any contractor for projects duly executed and certified. The ₦2 billion ecological fund in question was released barely three months before the end of my tenure for the Oko/Umuchiana erosion crisis. Despite pressure to spend the money, I refused, insisting that it should be left for my successor because government is a continuum and the funds were tied to a specific project. The money was therefore left 100 per cent intact in First Bank, in Account No. 2018779464, with a balance of over ₦2.13 billion. It is important to stress that funds tied to specific projects or set aside for particular purposes were not even included in the over ₦75 billion in savings we left behind. If anybody can establish anything to the contrary, I will stop campaigning. -PO

I’ve always looked at how we pass along information. The patterns we use, and the way we use them. It’s important that we recognize these patterns if we intend to change how things are done. Currently, there is a major decline in the number of people willing to read and study intensively to acquire information, especially when it comes to technology. This isn’t out of the blue or random. It is partly a result of our exposure to a culture built around speed, convenience, and things that offer fast rewards. But it’s also true that the methods through which we learn have changed, and we cannot afford to turn a blind eye to that. By November, I’ll be convening a conference for young adults and adults alike. A conference to reintroduce people to the possibilities of technology, redefine our approach to learning, and demystify the barriers to entry into the technology space. The future is being built. Be part of the build. Get introduced to technology. Introductory Technology, November 21, 2026. Anticipate IntroTech, Awka, Anambra State, Nigeria.

One under-discussed risk is Africa's massive brain drain of AI talent. skilled engineers keep leaving for better pay and tools abroad, which weakens local innovation and leaves the continent even more dependent on outside models and companies.

I finally came around to reading this, and it did not disappoint. Fantastic read! History is written by the victors, but the future is also created by them. Africa will have to violently force its way into the stage if it's to not be entirely lost in the new world order.
