This is a win! Now let’s make sure it’s offered at an affordable price OTC, continued to be covered by insurances, and offered free in many of the places where people who use drugs are most likely to seek it out

Filled out two squares on my fatherhood/PEM bingo card this week: ED visit for bronchiolitis for kid 2, call from school nurse for kid 1 sticking a bead up her nose. Must urgently find and destroy all button batteries and magnets in the house now…

See below for our commentary re: this week's @JAMA_current tramadol study and potential mechanisms of tramadol-related harm. Also recommend reading the 2015 @JAMAInternalMed tramadol commentary by Nelson and Juurlink. jamanetwork.com/journals/jam…

“Thyme” for me. Asked for an example in a sentence and couldn’t understand why someone would put a clock on chicken.
found out yesterday that everyone remembers the one word that knocked them out of their big third grade spelling bee ✨LAMENT✨

So true. I used to complain about what EMS didn't do for the patient or what history they didn't obtain. Then I spent 2wks riding w/ @DHParamedics and saw what incredible obstacles EMS has to overcome just to bring a patient to the ED. Now I only say "thank you" and listen.
Next time you decide to continue chit-chatting with your colleagues or ignore EMS report, maybe consider what that EMS provider had to experience just to deliver that patient to your controlled environment with endless resources. #listen #colleagues #changetheculture #MedTwitter

A couple illustrative stories: EMS call to a basement apartment. The place was in disrepair, rodents/roaches everywhere, multiple birdcages with squirrels (?!) in them.

Speeding down the highway with a critically ill patient, swerving between cars, obviously a bumpy ride. Paramedic hands me the angiocath: think you're good at IVs? Try this one doc.

Incredibly proud of @NorthwesternEM chief and future @NationalCSP fellow @vidyaeswaran for leading this multi-system report of ED take-home naloxone implementation! annemergmed.com/article/S019…

Not COVID-related, but we are still seeing patients with opioid overdose and it is important for us to continue providing this vital service even in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic

Hey #medtwitter, does anyone have a resource to teach ED providers how to have a conversation with patients re: MAT? #opioidcrisis #foamed

A new @NationalCSP class of clinical scholars starts soon; I am thinking of lessons to share. My @ncspMICHIGAN Practica 1 research w/ @kekocher had a LONG incubation period to publication. Perseverance is KEY!!! #CVofFailures #visualabstract #getyourmanuscriptout

Good question. See below. Just an educational photo. Shoulder is not out. Only difference is I use an LP needle to do the actual injection. #FOAMus #FOAMed #POCUS

So true. Love the example. Would be great for every Grand Rounds talk to begin or end with a “CV of failures!”
we should all talk about our failures more – @dmcmoster #EMConf @NorthwesternEM

“Thyme.” Was confused because the word seemed too easy. Asked for use in a sentence. Was even more confused: how can the abstract concept of time be placed on chicken? Haunts me to this very day...
In honor of the Scripps Spelling Bee, what word got you eliminated in elementary school?
