For centuries, financial systems have evolved by changing how trust, credit and authority are recorded - from early ledgers and sovereign currencies to banks, global financial networks and, eventually, Bitcoin.
Bitcoin demonstrated that transaction records could be maintained and verified without relying on a single institutional authority. But global finance faces a different problem: it operates across sovereign, regulatory and institutional domains that cannot simply surrender their authority to one ledger, one rulebook or one operator.
The Black Paper explores a third path.
The Sovereign Settlement Interface (SSI) is a polycentric settlement-interoperability architecture in which sovereign authority remains local, institutions retain control over their own data, records and execution, and standardized proofs make cross-system rule execution and outcomes independently verifiable.
No single global ledger. No unified rulebook. No suprasovereign adjudicator.
Execution within sovereignty. Verification across systems.
This video introduces the historical path that led to that problem - and the architecture proposed to address it.

The Black Paper is now officially live.
The Principia of Sovereign Digital Interoperability introduces the foundational framework behind the Sovereign Settlement Interface (SSI) and its approach to coordination across sovereign and regulated financial systems.

#Stablecoins, #tokenized deposits and #CBDC experiments are scaling in parallel - but trust still has to cross systems. Article on The Block explores how the Black Paper frames #SSI as a coordination architecture for digital settlement across issuers, ledgers and regulatory domains.

Thank you @web3summit for giving me the stage.
If RISC-V is the Open spec hardware foundation, We believe JAM is the Open Spec principle for web3.
Open Spec is the publicly available technical standards that any country, company, or team can use to develop their own implementations—without licensing fees or patent restrictions.
@Polkadot JAM Gray Paper (open spec) features globally and politically dispersed tech expertise and governance, with a compute model that allows for scalable composability.
No other existing blockchain can simultaneously fulfill “permissioned + permissionless” within one interoperable framework. Emerging and Digitally Peripheral Nations gain access to infrastructure parity with Digital Superpowers while maintaining technical sovereignty.

@Web3summit titled: "China’s RISC-V Strategy: Open Spec as JAM is Becoming the New Sovereignty of Technology." Stay tuned!
What is true digital sovereignty and why is it so important? What role do RISC-V and JAM, PolkaVM play in this?
Inspired by @gavofyork 's JAM Gray Paper, i hope my talk at @Web3summit titled "China’s RISC-V Strategy: Open Spec as JAM is becoming the New Sovereignty of Technology" could provide inspirations for those who aspire to harness blockchain/web3 technology to bring development, peace and progress to the world.
See you at Studio 1, 12:35 - 13:00 GMT +2, 17th July, Thursday.
