The original MIT-licensed ZODL Android and Swift SDKs will reach end of support with NU7 on November 5.
Development continues on ZODL SDKs under AGPL-3.0-only, with commercial licensing available. Previously released MIT code remains MIT.

Yesterday the Zcash Foundation board named me Executive Director. Thank you to Alex for steady leadership through a tumultuous stretch, and to everyone who has reached out this week.
The job as I see it has two halves: 1) keep the infrastructure fast, secure, and boring. 2) make privacy something ordinary people use without having to think about it.
I don’t think privacy is a feature, and I don’t think it’s a niche. It’s the room a society needs to think, speak, associate, and change its mind. Any system people depend on for daily life should give them that room by default. That’s the standard I’ll hold our work to.

Big milestone for Shielded Labs: the activation height for NU7 is being set today! The upgrade includes our first major mainnet deployment: the Network Sustainability Mechanism (NSM).
Like Bitcoin, Zcash faces a long-term challenge: how to sustain network security as block rewards decline. The NSM helps address that while preserving the 21 million coin cap.
ZIP-235 removes 60% of transaction fees from circulation, allowing that ZEC to be reissued as future block rewards. ZIP-237 starts that recycling around February 2031.
At current fee levels, that’s only about 210 ZEC per year. This is a modest first step, but we’re optimistic about how new use cases for the NSM could evolve over time and contribute to Zcash’s long-term security.

How to swap into shielded Zcash
Just in case
The super easy process to get shielded Zcash $ZEC:
1. Download Zodl wallet @zodl_app
2. Select "swap"
3. Choose source chain and asset (e.g. $USDC on Ethereum)
4. Enter refund address (just in case swap fails)
5. Get quote and confirm
6. Send funds on source chain to address provided (this sets up the swap functionality powered by $NEAR intents)
7. Once transaction is confirmed on source chain, select "I've sent the funds"
8. That's it! By default the wallet deposits to a shielded Zcash address

Reminder: your Telegram DMs are NOT end-to-end encrypted by default.
Regular “cloud chats” are stored on Telegram’s servers with encryption keys Telegram controls. That means Telegram can access your contents.
Regular group chats have NO end-to-end encryption option, even when the group is set to private.
Even Secret Chats use MTProto, Telegram’s custom protocol, without Signal’s per-message key ratcheting or post-quantum key agreement.
Telegram’s privacy policy also says it may retain metadata such as your IP address, device information and username history for up to 12 months.
For private conversations, use @signalapp.

this is not actually a bug in zcash turnstiles fwiw
this is cause they didn't implement the ability to mint coins fully
the only way to mint coins in zcash is via the coinbase/mining
therefore zcash is not effected just fyi
We regret to inform you that an exploit in the new transparent layer related to the Ironwood turnstile for supply accounting has been identified. The developers will be rolling the chain back to 14 October 2026, 1:00 PM Pacific Time. All exchanges have been notified and are temporarily suspending deposits and withdrawals. Please refrain from sending or receiving funds and avoid using your wallet in the meantime. We appreciate your patience while we resolve the issue. Our developers are already working on a fix. Further details will follow once the rollback is complete and an investigation has concluded.
