Compression and concatenation on the web
Everybody knows you can concatenate gzip files to form valid gzip files, but do the browsers know? We explore concatenation with gzip, brotli, and zstd. theconsensus.dev/p/2026/10/0…

Feed search is now open to everyone, no account needed. And one of my favorite little features in feed search is backlink lookups. 🕵️
Keep in mind: the feed is only among companies, developers, and projects we index. Items in the feed must mention a project we track. And the feed is pre-filtered to exclude docs, marketing pages, etc. It's a feed of (ideally) only good quality writing in software infrastructure.
Anyone can search. And paid (Standard) subscribers can turn these filters into RSS feeds or email alerts.

The Consensus is really a great resource of human-created content for learning about data infra. An oasis in a world of AI slop.

Should people still read and write technical content in this agentic era? Absolutely, and you should too!
Code is always important, but the people behind it are even more important because, to build great products, you need human intuition and perspective.
I think we should always believe in people, their perspectives, and their experience in tech over code.
Thats why I really love the slogan of the Apache Software Foundation (ASF): "Community Over Code".
I've been following Phil Eaton since his time at EDB and really love his work and what Phil is now building with The Consensus.
I think its still really important to share human-created content and developer stories, even in this agentic era.
I think The Consensus is really an oasis in the world of AI-generated slop.
Today, I read the story of Deepthi Sigireddi, Head of Databases at Supabase, and really loved her story of how she came into the world of databases and spent more than 20 years building databases, or more accurately, scaling databases through Vitess at PlanetScale and now Multigres at Supabase.
If you know database companies, these two are among the coolest companies in our space.
Love learning about databases? Follow The Consensus. Its really an amazing resource for database people.
