🚶 BENGALURU'S FOOTPATHS ARE GETTING THEIR SPACE BACK
From July 1–10, the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) is running a 'Safe Footpath Campaign' across 1,000 km of road network — clearing encroachments from footpaths in all five city corporations.
📊 WHY THIS MATTERS
30% of every 1,000 road accident deaths in Bengaluru are pedestrians. The Supreme Court has been clear: walking on a footpath safely is a fundamental right, not a privilege.
🚫 WHAT'S BEING CLEARED
➡Illegal parking on footpaths (vehicles will be towed)
➡Name boards, chairs, tables, and kiosks blocking pedestrian paths
➡Vendors and shops spilling onto walkways
✅ HOW IT'S BEING DONE
➡Notices will be issued before any action — not a sudden crackdown
➡Action will follow the Street Vendors' Protection Act and SC guidelines
➡Municipal officers, police, and clearance teams will coordinate
➡Damaged slabs and kerbs will be repaired alongside clearance
It follows the #1KmChallenge encouraging people to walk short distances instead of driving — Bengaluru is trying to become more walkable, one footpath at a time.
🗣️ WE NEED YOUR EYES ON THE GROUND
Let's make Bengaluru's footpaths walkable again — together.

As a big fan of the pink flower blooms in Bengaluru, I try to click pictures of these trees wherever I spot them. In that journey, I got curious and did a little research and plotted it on a map. There are around 27k tabebuia rosea trees in Bangalore currently.

With our continued focus on automation, the @PhonePe SRE team recently automated the entire flow for rolling upgrades to Elasticsearch. With each node approximately at 2.5TB and clusters of 400 to 500 nodes, a single cluster can be more than 1 petabyte. Add to that multiple clusters across datacenters for redundancy and the problem of upgrades becomes a massive undertaking . Here is an insightful blog on how PhonePe SREs automated this entire flow, helping us eliminate downtime and reduce upgrade times from 10 hours to 4 - 6 hours with minimal involvement by an engineer for not more than 30 mins

Today I learned that there is a company called "keydroid", who make your regular car keys look very BMW-like.
They pick your car keys, pop it open, and solder it into another smart key and send it back to you.
With this update, Tesla FSD might actually work well in India too.
Truly next level stuff !
FSD 13 is “~500% better” than current versions, but take that with a grain of salt
I believe this is in regard to “critical” interventions where a takeover is absolutely needed (doesn’t even need to safety related). For example, in current versions it is usually “critical” that you take over to park at the destination (@BLKMDL3 didn’t even count these as interventions in his drives, but Tesla might count this as a critical intervention for unsupervised)
I don’t expect many of the issues we’re currently seeing to vanish as soon as V13 is here, but I do expect the car to be able to have a chance at driving from point A to B doing ALL necessary maneuvers (backing out of parking spaces, finding parking at the end of destination, getting itself “unstuck” by reversing, etc) without ever touching the wheel or doing any manual inputs
V13 will be the first “feature complete” FSD version, meaning the car can do all driving maneuvers. doesn’t mean it will be perfect, but I could definitely see a ~500% improvement in the amount of times human input is required even with just reverse and parking / unparking ability
I heard that @RanaDaggubati's family owns a house there.
Another reason is that it's just 200 villas in 275 acres. You're paying for more than an acre.
Folks, if you want to build an Android mobile app, always start with native. Add "compose multi platform" if you want iOS.
If you want to have a web app too, start learning react-native instead.
.
.
.
Things have gotten simpler ever since flutter is out of the equation.
For those who say that they want to use react native instead of KMP just because of over-the-air, try Zipline by @CashApp.
The fun part is that you write kotlin code, and zipline can deliver the code to older apps when required. The JS is replaced with native when app updates.
Over the years, I never recommended anyone to do flutter. It was not funded by the core Android team, but from a small team within Google. Talking to the Google developer advocates also made it clear that within Google too, it didn't get the respect it deserved.

As we moved from being a single app company to a group of apps, defining and abstracting what makes the @PhonePe app tick with 560M+ users was important not just for the next wave of users on PhonePe but also for extending the same learnings to @pincode @SharedotMarket and @IndusAppstore !
Our App Platform is the backbone of mobile apps at PhonePe - covering internal SDKs, performance metrics, CI/CD, and much more. In the first of a series of blogs, we outline what we mean by App Platform. We will dive deeper into each area in subsequent blogs.
