A composite image from this morning's eclipse showing the moon in various stages throughout the night. The size and shape of Earth's shadow is clearly visible here. These events are absolutely magical to witness and quite surreal.

Our latest paper is out in @PLOSGenetics! It's about the effects of aging and sperm exposure on DNA break formation and repair in oocytes. Beautiful work by both grad student @EToraason and tech @VikkiLeeAdler! 🧬🔬🪱#celegans #meiosis4eva journals.plos.org/plosgeneti…

The final work from my PhD was just published today! After mapping genes to a new assembly with Liftoff, the next question is always how do the genes differ in the new assembly? LiftoffTools automates the comparison of gene sequences, copy number and synteny.
Replying to @alaina_shumate
@alaina_shumate has augmented her terrific Liftoff annotation program (pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/3332…) with a nice set of analysis tools, just out today on @F1000Research f1000research.com/articles/1…

Today I learned about the Arabian sand boa. It looks like a child’s best effort at drawing a snake.
