🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Richard Brody of The New Yorker calls Bruno Dumont's RED ROCKS one of the best films of @TheNYFF or even the year!!
During week two of the New York Film Festival, Richard Brody saw what he considers to be one of the best films of both the event and the year: “Red Rocks.” The high-tension melodrama is set mainly in a calm, gentrified town on the French Riviera, and follows two groups of idle youths who meet by chance and clash when a girl from one group and a boy from the other become romantically involved. The characters, like the actors who portray them, are somewhere between five and seven years old. “The story’s most sophisticated elements coalesce with the kids’ ingenuously profound view of the world they’re discovering, in all its daily strangeness,” Brody writes. My other rave for Lee Chang-dong's POSSIBLE LOVE, this one for @nprfreshair. By no means an expert on Korean pronunciation, but I did my part to normalize the silent "L" in "Lee": npr.org/2026/10/23/nx-s1-601…

In 1972, a group of Harlem Renaissance cultural icons gathered at Duke Ellington's house.
The afternoon was captured on 16mm film by William Greaves, but the footage remained unedited in a vault for 50 years until David Greaves restored and completed his father's project, releasing the documentary in 2026.
Once Upon a Time in Harlem is a film that every New Yorker should see — and this weekend you can, at no cost.
We partnered with the filmmakers to offer free screenings this Saturday and Sunday at the Lincoln Center, Film Forum, and Magic AMC in Harlem.
