One of the most underrated skills I’ve realised I need as a non-technical co-founder is product/project management.
I didn’t fully understand why until this past week.
Luckily for me, I’ve been learning project management for some time now, so I’ve heard all the usual advice about Agile, building iteratively, launching your MVP early, and improving as you go.
And I agree with it.
But I’ve realised there’s a difference between launching an imperfect product and launching a product that feels unfinished.
You don’t need every feature to be perfect, but the little details still matter.
A broken button, confusing flow, or a feature that doesn’t quite work as expected might seem small to the team, but to a first-time user, that could be their entire first impression of your product.
And first impressions are hard to change.
I’m learning that as a non-technical founder, I don’t need to write every line of code, but I do need to understand the product deeply enough to question it, test it, and care about the small details.
Sometimes, the small things are actually the big things.
