The biggest levers that have helped me make $219 423 ARR in RE:
1. Ability to take pain
2. Doing the work
3. Patience
The lever that will take me to the next level
- Audience building
- Digital leverage
- Simplicity
After 1 month of daily AI design use on client projects:
Subframe > MagicPath
* I’m a developer, not a designer - skill issue?
For 9-5ers thinking about leaving their job:
Business is not mysterious.
It's only 4 steps
1. Niche Selection ( Who is it for )
2. Lead Generation ( Traffic )
3. Offer creation ( What )
4. Fulfilment ( How )
I didn't even realise I used @WrongsToWrite 's What, Why, How framework.
Just shows it works.
Rails is old, but not cold.
I agree with this move.
You must ask.
If you want the sale, ask.
If you want to get paid, ask.
I get so nervous sending an invoice for payment.
I even check if it's ok to send the damn thing.
(I know; it's weird.)
But when your currency is 20x weaker than the client's.
Its gets intimidating.
You want to occupy mental real estate.
𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘆, 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗯𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻𝘀.
Last night, I spoke with a popular content consultant.
He explained that people no longer want information.
They want perceptive.
Initially, I was upset by the information.
It’s a sign of change and increased market sophistication.
[i.e. Extra work]
(Btw, this is me having a moment of laziness, don’t do this.
Try to course correct quickly, like I did later)
But it’s actually a huge differentiating opportunity.
When in doubt, study the market.
It has all the answers you need.
18Y of YouTube and AI, has made information cheap.
Times have changed, but human psychology has not.
We all still crave connection.
People crave perspectives and connection in their interactions and purchases.
So when your audience has a similar problem.
You will come to mind.
𝗢𝗰𝗰𝘂𝗽𝘆 𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲.
The best thing I heard all day:
𝗠𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘆 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗲𝗱.
Nobody will ever tell you they prefer to get their money next week compared to having it now.
So regardless of what you are selling, you will always standout if you can deliver results quicker.
Build apartments, quicker
Provide finance, quicker
Close deals, quicker
Get deals, quicker
If you can get results quicker, what is stopping you from doing it?
When I hear someone under 35 saying they want work-life balance, I immediately think:
"𝗜 𝗮𝗺 𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗮 𝗽𝗼𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗼."
- Work-life rhythms exist
- Work-life balance doesn’t exist
Any corporate will tell you they have quiet times and busy time, normally coinciding with when reports are due.
If you are trying to achieve a balance, you are striving for the mediocre.
Who wakes up and says they want to be average?
Greatness happens at the extremes.
Growth only happens when you are tested.
When you young, you want to know what you are capable of.
𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗶𝗲,𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗯𝗼𝗱𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗱.
Real estate and software are a match made in heaven.
Real Estate has a high return to effort ratio, but is notoriously illiquid.
That is where software or even agency comes in.
It has +80% margins out the gate.
Paired together, you negate the cons of each biz model.

After a 17 hours of studying App Store optimization (ASO) for a new iOS app, this is my summary:
- Use @AppFollowIO and @MobileAction to find keywords for free
- Filter Keywords by >15 Popularity & <55 Difficulty
- You want popularity around 30 for each keyword
- Apps that rank 1st for keywords with combined popularity score of 50, get about 100 downloads a day
- You have a traffic problem if you < 15 downloads a day.
- Need about 100 Ratings, then don't need to focus on it any more
- Give free lifetime deals with AppAdvice can give you ratings boost you need.
- Put your brand name at the end of the Name, unless you are popular
- Good visuals and video do wonders for App listings.
- Study your competitors (Assume they have done most of the hard work)
- Start with a limited feature set.
- Apps are focused, keep it simple.
- Concentrate on downloads, then monetisation
- Use your phone to see what is happening in the actual store and note the autocomplete suggestions.
- Download, experience and make notes of the top 5 apps in your niche to help with feature set and get ideas.
- First 7 days in Apps Store, you get a traffic boost - don't waste it.
- ASO is an iterative process, therefore invest in tracking. (h/t @matteo_spada & @TryAstroApp )
- Try to find good keywords, not in the title of competitors
- Do not repeat words in your name and subtitle.
- New apps should target long-tail keywords
- The answer you need is in the top 5 results of the store
- The order of your keywords matter from Name to Subtitle to Keyword Field.
- ASO is easier when you have an app in the App Store, to judge keyword relevancy
- Getting good ratings regularly is crucial
- Beware of Branded search. It has juicy stats but they don't want you.
- Don't confuse the Algo with too many keywords of different intents
- Don't over optimise your keywords so that Grandma doesn't understand what it does.
- App stores is not about new ideas, but new experiences.
Thanks for reading.

Here’s my advice to anyone looking to quit their job and hop on the indie hacking bandwagon.
- Have an entrepreneur mindset.
- Don’t over engineer your solution.
- Learn to move on from ideas that didn’t work out.
- Stick to a stack that you’re familiar with.
The tragedy of being broke:
Is how it makes you small-minded.
The worst part of thinking small is how it keeps you broke.
It's a textbook case: Vicious Cycle.
Break free at all costs.
Please.
Last year, I started sharing on Twitter because I wanted to build distribution of my future apps.
But, I never expected to love writing this much.
There is something about code and words that bring me so much joy.
Being a creator is the best job in the world.
Layers. to for design inspiration is not Dribbble, but I think we will get there soon.
The rate of improvement is inspiring.
The most interesting part of the new Once .com biz model:
Is the access to the code.
You now pay $299 to:
1. Access to code you can change
2. Enjoy the app on your own servers
3. Learn how to build apps like the creator of Rails
No. 3 is so worth it, but I worry about piracy.
There is no way you look at university the same after listening to:
Crisis in Higher Ed on a16z pod.
The creator economy will eat most of this pie, but not until FinTech grants loans to students globally.
Global Lending will catalyze and legitimatise the creator Ed movement.
