Cornell West is a national treasure—the man just perfectly summed up the US in 3 minutes: our fake innocence allows us to pretend we are like children who can do no wrong or bear responsibility for our actions, even as we do terrible things abroad and at home.

And of course, all you have to do to deserve such a man is to just *exist* because posessing female parts apparently makes you special.
Bunch of awful, mediocre, self-immersed, boring people who have never been told that you actually need to work to get whatever it is you want.

For more than a thousand years, my Dinka (Jieng) people of South Sudan and other semi-nomadic Nilotic pastoralists have moved with their cattle across the region's vast floodplains, a rhythm of life dictated by the seasonal rains and the rise and fall of the Toch Wetland (Sudd).
Cut off by distance, conflict, and geography from the rest of humanity, our cattle-centered way of life has remained largely unchanged for centuries.
Until now.
That isolation, long a source of protection from the outside world, is beginning to fade.
Having returned to film over the last 3-4 years, I can finally share this short film, which explores daily life at my Dinka Bor (Pathuyith) cattle camp. As the modern world edges closer and closer, a friend and I wanted to capture and document a way of life I experienced as a young boy. It is a dying culture suspended between ancient tradition and encroaching change.

I want you guys to start talking about how Sudan was able to position itself as a country that could “help” these Arab countries, because beneath that power were genocide, land theft, and the same atrocities we’re condemning the UAE for today.

Credit where credit is due.
Ministers being forced to report directly to the Prime Minister on what they’ve actually delivered, backed by key performance indicators and measurable results?
Good.
Government should operate with accountability. Set targets. Measure results. Explain failures.
If ministers are “panicked” because they have to produce a report card, maybe we need a lot more report cards in Ottawa.
This is one move from the Carney government I can absolutely get behind.
