June 19th, 1865 marked the day enslaved Blacks in Galveston Bay, TX learned from Union troops they were freed — this was two years after the Emancipation Proclamation and over a month after the end of the Civil War. My synagogue was targeted with graffiti last night.
I’m not sure what else to say at this point other than our people are resilient — and we have no choice but to push forward and keep fighting for a better world. That’s what I’ll be thinking about this Shabbat. 💙

Growin up, losin brothers & friends to bullet. death or the penitentiary, I didnt think about how to stop it. I thought about how to avoid it, how to stay alive and how to protect those I loved. We believe, in that commitment, we can bring about a more peaceful OKC @LiveFreeOKC
