I always say that much of the Western business literature calls resilience, many of us in Africa simply call a regular Tuesday. Power goes off? Tuesday. Water stops flowing? Wednesday. Exchange rate moves while your goods are at sea? Thursday. And somehow, payroll must still be met. But here is the danger: Resilience is a virtue. Permanent dysfunction is not. Our next task is to turn resilience into capability, ingenuity into systems, and Ghanaian potential into consistent delivery by building businesses, products and institutions that can meet global standards repeatedly. Because resilience may help us survive. Standards, systems and consistent quality are how we compete to win. That was my message at the 9th Ghana Business Standard Awards. Made in Ghana. Measured against global standards. Trusted by the world. Nyame nhyira mo bebree. ๐Ÿ™

I was pleased to welcome Mr Emmanuel Kwasi Afriyie, Acting Managing Director of Ignite Media Group (Metro TV, Original TV, Original FM and Metro Digital), and his management team to Maxwell Investments Group. The true value of a media platform isn't only measured by how many people it reaches, but by how many lives it changes. Our partnership has already helped connect Ghanaians to entrepreneurship education through Arizona State University's Thunderbird School of Global Management and its 100 Million Learners initiative at no cost to the learners. Now, we're looking further ahead. From entrepreneurship and thought leadership to traditional institutions and community development, we explored how our combined networks can open even more doors for Ghanaians. I've always believed that institutions become more valuable when they use their influence to create opportunities beyond themselves. Media can do more than report on development. Media can help drive it. And that's precisely what we're building towards.

The official activities of the IFPSM World Summit in Ghana concluded today at the Palace of Odeneho Kwafo Akoto III, Akwamumanhene and Paramount Chief of the Akwamu State in Ghana. Today, I learnt from the Akwamumanhene himself about the remarkable history of Akwamu, which rose to become one of West Africaโ€™s most powerful empires between the 17th and early 18th centuries, stretching some 250 miles along the coast at its peak. We explored historical artefacts, reflected on the greatness of the past, and deliberated on what the future might hold. We also extended our heartfelt appreciation to the Akwamumanhene for his presence at, and support for, the IFPSM World Summit. Oh and the organising team did what every respectable Twi-speaking Ghanaian would do after a long week on a bright Sunday afternoon: fufu and light soup with assorted meats for starters, main course and dessert. I love my job! โ€“ at Akosombo, Ghana

After the couple of months Iโ€™ve had, I have to remind myself of a few things, especially after being on my feet until well past midnight on the evenings of the amazing International Federation of Procurement and Supply Management (IFPSM) World Summit organised by Chartered Institute of Supply Chain Management (CISCM) - Ghana. I am grateful. Not because I am not exhausted. I am. But because I remember when the opportunities that now fill my days were things I could only hope for. There was a time when my ambitions were centred on expanding my influence, gaining access to more consequential conversations, and positioning myself for greater responsibilities. And now, here I am. I understand better now that influence is earned, trust is built, and the privilege of making consequential decisions comes with the responsibility to deliver. And somewhere along the way, we risk becoming so consumed by the demands of what we are building that we forget what a privilege it was to have the opportunity to build it in the first place. โ€œIโ€™m busy Iโ€™m busy Iโ€™m busyโ€ can slowly make yesterdayโ€™s breakthrough so easily become todayโ€™s inconvenience. I cannot forget this. I have to remind myself that I am lucky to have the problems I have. Of course, exhaustion is real. Rest is necessary. And not every demand on our time deserves our attention. But perspective is equally important. Some problems are signs that something is going wrong. Others exist precisely because something has gone right. We must learn to distinguish between the two. I would hate to spend my life pursuing opportunities, only to become resentful of the responsibilities that accompany them. So today, I am reminding myself that gratitude is not the absence of pressure. It is the ability to recognise what that pressure represents. I am tired from the weekโ€™s activities. And I am simultaneously grateful for the weekโ€™s activities. Because some of the weight we carry today belongs to a life we once prayed to God for.

Some partnerships begin with a signature. The best ones begin with conversations, patience, trust, and a shared belief that something meaningful can be built. After a long journey of discussions between Maxwell Investments Group and the University of East London, it was deeply fulfilling to finally accept UELโ€™s invitation to spend time at the Royal Docks School of Business and Law at UEL, meet the people behind the partnership, experience the University in action and continue shaping what comes next. At the centre of our collaboration is the MiniMBA programme, an executive learning experience designed to connect professionals and business leaders in Ghana with practical business education, international exposure, targeted networking and the London learning environment. But I left UEL even more convinced that this can grow into something much bigger than a single programme. There is an opportunity here to build a lasting bridge between Ghana and London around executive education, leadership development, enterprise and human capital. That is the work ahead. My sincere thanks to Crispin Reed, Professor Stephen Barber, Alessandro Bigi, Chris Dodd, Kirti Dubey and the wider UEL team for the extraordinary warmth, openness and commitment throughout this journey. Very proud of this moment. Even more excited about what comes next!!! ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ญ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง

Some things feel bigger simply because we have not named them properly. Name the problem. Define what you want. Take the next step. You will not always think your way into clarity. Sometimes, you have to move your way into it. Name it. Then move. If this quarter taught me one thing, itโ€™s this.
