Dear @SmitaSabharwal ji, yes, there are many surgeons with disabilities even in India 🇮🇳. In fields like urology, gastro surgery, and plastic surgery.
So, when you next see a person with disability, presume COMPETENCE!!

A 28-year-old scientist, suffering from muscular dystrophy, who cracked the Civil Services Examination on four occasions has moved CAT after DoPT declined to allocate any service to him. Wheelchair bound since the age of 12, Kartik Kansal taught himself to write despite weakened muscles. In 2021, he secured 271 rank. Mr. Kansal cracked the coveted examinations in 2019, 2022 and 2023 as well, securing the rank of 813, 784 and 829 rank respectively. The CAT is expected to hear the petition in August.

Today @TNelectionsCEO IT team enabled a lakh+ blind citizens' independent & secret ballot by simply making existing form 7A - list of contesting candidates (in EVM order) available as text on their site :

ALT 🎉 Tamil Nadu shows the way With accessible Form 7A 🥳 Most blind people use TTS screenreaders. Until now, blind voters knew of their candidates only at the booth IF the Braille candidate list was available there and IF they could read Braille. On reading the Braille candidate list and memorizing the serial number of their candidate, Braille-literate citizens voted against the corresponding Braille numbered button on the EVM. But today the IT team of Chief Electoral Officer, Tamil Nadu made independent, private voting possible for a lakh+ blind / low vision voters including those who do not know Braille. This link has the Form 7A constituency-wise candidate lists in EVM order as accessible HTML text for screenreaders to convert text to speech : https://www.erolls.tn.gov.in/pcwithcandidate2024/PC_LIST_2024.aspx One does not need to be able to read the Braille numbers on the EVM - simply counting the Braille instances will give you an idea.
