Out of respect for the wildfires in Colorado, please refrain from fireworks tomorrow night for NYE.
I'm begging you all. Watching homes burn on tv is not fun.

Update: I got a hold of City Bark Broomfield and they are transporting ALL pets to City Bark THORNTON. Owners can contact the Thornton location in about half an hour as they are in process of evacuating pets. #marshallfire

Do #habits of thought contribute to depression? Suggesting yes, Hjartarson et al. found that bad feelings can act as a cue that triggers rumination, at least for people who report having such thoughts automatically (i.e., unintended, uncontrolled).

Molly has been unable to wake up, although all the sedatives are gone. Her EEG is not showing activity. The doctors will do one more exam tomorrow. If Molly is non-responsive, they will say that she is no longer with us. Please pray with everything in your heart for a miracle.

I feel like one thing we're not talking about is how fucking overstimulating it is to be around our kids all day all night every day and night. For those of us who NEED alone time to recharge, this is particularly excruciating.

We need to recognize the kids that can't sit still and are bouncing out of their chair as a sign. We need to ask: What can I do differently in this moment to help that child? You can guarantee that there are other children in the room that can benefit from this as well.

A professor had his assistant tell me he "will not be available for further interviews" after I got a time diff. wrong & missed his call. I have 5 kids ages 6-16 here. The call was for an article on perfectionism, and now my notes just say it's a virtue/vice not allowed mothers.

Metaphorically and physically, building forts reflects children’s growth as individuals, Sobel says; they create a “home away from home,” free from parental control. Forts also foster creativity. “A lot of magic happens inside,” he adds. wapo.st/30vVC2I https://t.c…

If your child (often a middle schooler) doesn't want to be on camera, ask why. Much of the time, it's not because they don't want others to see THEM -- it's distracting to see THEMSELVES. If that's the case, they can minimize self-consciousness by hiding their own video window.
