💬 annie dirusso on joining "the hayley williams show" across latin america this november, sharing her reaction to the invitation and her excitement for south american audiences during an interview with paramore brasil: annie dirusso: opening for hayley was already the dream of a lifetime. if someone had told me i’d be opening for her, i would have assumed it was in the US or, in an ambitious dream, europe. but to tour latin america made me feel like the luckiest person alive. i still can’t believe i get to do this. i’ve heard so much from artist friends who have played south america and mexico, and they all say the crowds are unmatched. everyone says the same thing. it usually takes artists quite a while to tour there because it’s expensive to fly and ship all the gear. getting to do a latin american run this early on, and in such a special way, is truly a dream come true. literally in a month, i’ll be in rio! these are places i’ve always dreamed of visiting. whenever people ask, “what’s your dream travel destination?”, i think of all the countries in south america. i feel so lucky to experience it like this. larissa stocco: we were about to ask if you had heard anything regarding brazilian crowds. latin american crowds are known for being really loud. do you have any expectations for your shows here, or is there anything you’re curious about regarding what to expect from brazil? annie dirusso: i’m trying not to get my expectations too high, but american crowds aren’t always that energetic. even in the uk, the crowds are more engaged. but unanimously, every artist i’ve ever met who has toured in south america says that there’s no matching those audiences. they really are the best, most passionate crowds. so i’m really looking forward to it, and i’m also looking forward to understanding it firsthand. when people describe what it’s like, you never truly know until you’ve experienced it yourself. i’ve seen video clips, but i don’t know if i fully grasp it yet, so i’m thrilled to experience it in person. i’m also excited to be in the crowd during hayley’s sets, knowing she has such a long history of touring there. getting to watch her perform these songs in front of such a passionate audience will probably make me cry every single night. 📷 #2: zachary gray via hwhq
