My
@UberEats account (and my
@Uber account) got hacked a few weeks ago. They somehow managed to change the phone number momentarily. I got a notification, reset the password and phone number, and enacted a few extra security measures. All seemed to be in order.
My next time attempting an order, I got all the way the payment screen and an error message popped up.
Through a comedy of errors, I reached a point where I can’t even log into my accounts anymore. Not through phone number, email, or Facial recognition.
I am apparently permanently device banned because of “irregular” behavior. (See email below)
I am the one who got hacked, and now I’m permanently banned from my own account. Even if I get a new phone down the line, there’s no guarantee that my iOS carrying over won’t immediately trigger a similar outcome.
I’m not trying to yell at a customer service employee that already has too much on their plate. I just want a little bit of common sense in the process.
This email, one of several I’ve exchanged in recent days, is simply ludicrous. I think it’s implying something along the lines of, “get a new phone, any maybe we can fix this down the line?”
No one will give me any details as to why MY phone got flagged. And to say “our decision is final and can’t be reviewed further” is just madness by any measure from a customer service perspective.
Sorry for the essay. I’ve just been losing my marbles a little extra hard for the last few days.
