Georgia just took another step to strengthen its business climate.
New laws taking effect today make corporate litigation easier, faster, and less expensive by modernizing Georgia's corporate code and expanding access to the Georgia State-wide Business Court.
As our own Sky Park told the @ajc: "Our involvement in the bill really was motivated by trying to make our legal environment pretty much just as competitive as our tax environment."
That's how Georgia stays the #1 state for business.

Georgia's been the #1 State for Business for 12 years running. That's not just a reputation — it's something that requires dedicated collaborative work, all the time.
Part of that work is behind the scenes, making sure Georgia has the legal infrastructure businesses can count on when things go wrong.
HB 1185, sponsored by Majority Leader Chuck Efstration and Senate Floor Leader Thomas "Bo" Hatchett and signed today by Governor Brian Kemp, does exactly that. The bill streamlines access to Georgia's Statewide Business Court — a specialized court with judges who actually understand how businesses work — strengthens Georgia's corporate code and adds commonsense protections against bad-faith litigation.
The bottom line: disputes resolved faster, at lower cost, with more expertise. That's good for companies already here, and a strong signal to those deciding where to grow next.
Thank you to @GovKemp, Majority Leader @ChuckEfstration, Floor Leader Hatchett and the Georgia General Assembly on this win for our business community. 🏛️

A model for change: Inaccurate criminal records prevented thousands from securing jobs and housing while hindering effective law enforcement.
Along with the metro Atlanta business community, Metro Atlanta Chamber spearheaded a successful public-private partnership with Fulton County justice partners to fix systemic errors in the criminal data transmission process.
Before the project, Fulton County alone had 1.5 million inaccurate data points. Since the project, data accuracy has improved from 40% to 90%, and the project has been adopted statewide.
