I came up short as a player. Decided to pursue a career as a baseball writer. Did that for 25 years, then got laid off twice in 18 months. I fell out of love with baseball. Then I rekindled my love for baseball by starting my glove business.

Got a 2 hour ride this morning. Looking forward to this!
What a thrill to join @Kurkjian_ESPN and @jpkurkjian and talk about baseball gloves on the @GreatGameOrWhat podcast. Would love for you to listen to the discussion!

10 years ago, with my sports writing career in the dumpster, I took a leap of faith and started my glove company. I never sought out favors from former colleagues. Just not my style. But I am thrilled now to be a guest on the @GreatGameOrWhat podcast today with @Kurkjian_ESPN

Baseball is not an equal opportunity sport. The best players play. Want more playing time? Get better.
Consistently barrel balls up in practice/scrimmages, improve your defense/arm strength, increase your strike throwing percentage with two quality pitches. Become the best choice.
Tough love and Real baseball ❤️⚾️
The Brewers taught baseball a great lesson this October.
Playing real baseball wins. The Brewers won. Baseball won.
A look at the Brewers' championship run by @AMBS_Kernan.

BASEBALL PARENTS: ⚾️👇
According to NCAA estimates:
• 472,598 high school baseball players.
• Just 8.8% advance to NCAA baseball.
• Only 2.7% reach Division I.
Now consider this...
D1 programs operating under the new roster rules generally have 34 roster spots.
Those spots aren't just for incoming freshmen. They're shared with returning players, transfers, and other recruits.
Here's what I wish more parents understood...
Your son can be GOOD ENOUGH to play at a school and STILL never receive an offer.
Why?
Because recruiting isn't simply about talent.
It's about POSITIONAL NEEDS, ROSTER AVAILABILITY, PROJECTABILITY, ACADEMICS, FINANCES, and TIMING.
A coach knowing your son doesn't mean he's recruiting him.
And a coach not offering your son doesn't automatically mean he isn't good enough.
My advice?
Study rosters. Understand the numbers. Ask better questions. Find the right fit, and go where you're wanted ‼️
Don't put a ceiling on your kid's dreams, but don't ignore the realities of the process either.
The goal isn't just to get RECRUITED. It's to find somewhere your son can DEVELOP, COMPETE, and SUCCEED.
Knowledge is power. 🙌

Everything about the Brewers screams fun. Fundamental baseball. Good defense. Clutch hitting. A little personality. A lot of grit.
Maybe the @mlb could put clauses in new contracts that mandate defense practice for teams. Hour a day? The errors are just awful and getting worse. Where is the pride in your craft??? @AMBS_Kernan @BallNineTweet @threeinningfan @OfficialMLBRFC @chrisvitali

MLB's Arizona Fall League is experimenting with rules that regulate the positioning of outfielders in an effort to increase the number of balls in the gap.
Outfielders under these rules are playing closer to the lines than normal, creating much bigger swaths of grass in the alleyways in left-center and right-center field.
FanGraphs was first to report the news.
