We are excited to announce the launch of our new #ObserveLikeArtemis Challenge! Inspired by the Artemis II mission? GLOBE volunteers provided critical data about snow cover in a recent collaboration between GLOBE and NASA SnowEx, a multiyear field experiment to study snow cover. GLOBE Observer land cover data verified the presence of snow on the ground, clearing up a faulty instrument reading. GLOBE students provided consistent, ongoing measurements of snow depth at one site, providing a ground record to support airborne measurements. SSTV fans: stay tuned for mid-July activities! It's an appropriate collaboration between ARISS Russia and USA as we celebrate the Apollo-Soyuz Test Project. Also, it's been 40 years since SSTV in human spaceflight, so we'll celebrate STS-51F as well.
The image is a graphic for an upcoming SSTV (Slow-Scan Television) event related to amateur radio on human spaceflight. It announces a possible event starting around July 14, 2025, and encourages users to prepare their decoders and pass prediction tools. The event marks the 40th anniversary of amateur radio in human spaceflight, featuring an SSTV image from Expedition 73/ARISS Series 27. The theme covers the Apollo-Soyuz Test Project and STS-51F, which had the first SSTV to/from space. The graphic includes an image of the Space Shuttle Columbia STS-9 launch on November 28, 1983, and logos related to ARISS and ISS.

HTTPS encryption for EU residents is at risk, as the soon-to-be-passed Article 45 removes browsers’ control over security for their users. eff.org/deeplinks/2023/11/ar…

Article 45 Will Roll Back Web Security by 12 Years
