So I’ve decided to stop being obstinate and start posting again on socials for @AngelCityZen. I think we’re gonna start using this format for podcasts clips. Like I have to find a way to make this fun for me, and talking animals might be the ticket. What do you think?

The streets of Los Angeles learned this from me from roughly 2009-2020 (I still dip in with a lesson here and there)
Nobody talks about how long you can walk if you are lowkey mentally Insane.

the basic idea is we're going to read two books, one that's optimistic about tech and one that's not, side-by-side. the goal is less to find pre-packaged answers we agree with, but to swim in the tension between conflicting perspectives and think, truly THINK, for ourselves.

From the latest Tiny Revolutions: Made it 20 years in LA before finally being pushed onto a stage, Zen center as pure land, privilege as a disability, a summer of ants, loving your neighbor because she’s you, a fully unsupervised frontal cortex, and why “50 is the new 30” is the dumbest thing anyone has ever said to me. + Seven dharma talks on winning, repression, the inner critic, and whether I’m allowed to be a know-it-all (working on it). Then I beg you to tell me what newsletters you read these days and why.

A thing I was talking about with a favorite female elder: how for most women, our words flow in relationship. So, for example, most of us don't come to a place like this with a MESSAGE because we're not generally focused on advancing our own personal agenda but tending to the needs of the whole. It's more like, we get going when we see what is needed and respond accordingly. It's why some of my default writing advice for women who are stuck is to read something that makes them angry and then write from the place that wants to set the record straight.

Reading is one of the best things you can do and costs like $20 for six hours, tops. In many cases it's free. The people who make it possible live in penury and the whole modern economy is organized against it.

My housemate is doing a total media fast til the end of the year and I'm thinking about joining him. I've been having a lot of fun poasting lately but also I know how good it feels to open up space in the brain.
