WASHINGTON – The American University wrestling team begins the 2026-27 season in California this Sunday, Nov. 1 to take on Cal State Bakersfield and Central Michigan in the sixth annual Chippewa Challenge. Head coach Jason Borrelli leads the Eagles in his sixth season at the helm, a hungry group that's looking to continue to raise the bar and strengthen a resurgence that saw two EIWA champions, an All-American, and a team #23 team finish at the NCAA Championships a year ago.

American finished 23rd at NCAAs last year and opens the preseason ranked No. 27. Led by returning All-American Caleb Campos, the Eagles are built to contend in the EIWA and make noise nationally. They bring back 8 of 10 starters and add a freshman class with two Big Boarders, headlined by No. 26 overall prospect Reagan Milheim.

September 11th, 2001. Everybody old enough remembers exactly where they were that morning.
25 years later, I still think about the nearly 3,000 people who went to work or got on a plane and never came home. The firefighters and cops who went up the stairs anyway. The families who have lived with it every single day since.
And I think about the weeks after. For a minute there, we weren't red or blue. We were just Americans. Churches were packed. CCW had standing room only. People gave blood, hung flags, held doors, and looked out for each other without being asked.
That's still who we are.
It's just harder to hear over the noise.

God bless the ones we lost, and God bless America. 🇺🇸
