🚨Vehicle Registration Data for 2025 🚨 December stats are extraordinary with Electric Cars taking 32.2% market share. Petrol registrations plummet below 40% market share for the first time and diesel falls to 4.2% of all new registrations. Hybrids and plug-in hybrids rise as expected. Petrol market share has fallen below 50% for the year at 46.4% with electric cars climbing to 23.9% market share for the year. The 28% ZEV mandate target for EVs in 2025 should have been met when Government flexibilities are taken into account.
Internal combustion engine still biggest selling powertrain but growing demand for electrified cars narrows majority to just 51.5% smmt.co.uk/uk-new-car-market…

More solar was installed globally in first 4 months of 2025 than in all of 2022! New battery storage is also setting global records in 2025. Wind too likely sets a new global record for deployment in 2025. EVs have record sales in 2025. Petrostate politicos freak out.

Drax widened its lead as the UK’s largest single source of carbon emissions in 2024, increasing its CO2 pollution by 16%. Despite subsidy cuts from 2027 onwards, public funds for biomass will likely ensure Drax is STILL the UK’s largest emitter in 2030. ember-energy.org/latest-insi…

It's 11am on a bank holiday (low demand, sunny) but all of British electricity demand is being met by renewables, with 2.5GW of gas online and 3.5GW of electricity being exported to Europe

I used to work for the low carbon economy team at DCC, they are some of the most talented, driven, and impactful people I have met, making a real difference on emissions in the County. Find this heartbreaking to read
In Durham, Nigel Farage tells council staff to look for other jobs Says those working on climate change, diversity or even just from home - "You all better be seeking alternative careers very, very quickly". More from our live blog here: independent.co.uk/news/uk/po…

Friends in @UKLabour - this is very poor. What’s the plan to decarbonise homes if gas boilers are welcome?
There had previously been an aspiration to end the sale of gas boilers by 2035 but nothing was legally in force. However, without such an end date, which can provide long-term market direction, it is unclear how decarbonising heating by 2050 will happen. theguardian.com/environment/…

Data released today by @CopernicusECMWF shows: 🌡️ It is now virtually certain that 2024 will be the warmest year on record. It is also virtually certain that the annual temperature for 2024 will be more than 1.5°C above the pre-industrial level. #ClimateCrisis #COP29
