Leaving these three (plus one on the way) is the hardest thing I’ve ever done. But that has always been the nature of exploration. Words from Fridtjof Nansen, describing his departure for the North Pole, resonate in my mind:

On September 17, 1975, Winnipeg Mayor Stephen Juba officially proclaimed the day “Guess Who Day” to honour the Guess Who. Word had gotten around that we were folding, which was officially announced later that month.
My mother attended with me that day and, as always, was proud of the success the band had achieved.

Here I am with Blair and Gary MacLean at the 1989 Variety Club Telethon in Toronto. I participated in the telethons for many years. That year, the MacLeans and I performed some songs together. Blair and Gary might have been referred to as “toilet rockers,” but we could always nail those harmonies as a trio. It was a lot of fun, and I’m grateful to have shared the stage with these two talented guys many times.
