One thing I learned in 2024 is to target a smaller area to generate better results for your business. Many small businesses are casting way too wide of a net by targeting large areas and it is costing them leads. Here's some tips to help become the big fish in the local pond.
By expanding from your home base you will slowly build your online presence in these new areas and increase your visibility over a much larger area slowly rather than trying to go all in compete directly with the big dogs that can cast a very wide net.
Tradies were the bulk of my clients in 2024
I worked with 6 of them and for the majority of them, this was the first time they had created a website.
I learned so much about local SEO and the best way to market them and I look forward to working with even more this year!

A Google Business Profile is a free online profile that you can use to promote your business and make you more discoverable online.
It is great for gathering and showcasing reviews from your customers, the best part is that it's super easy to use for both you & your customers.
Having a good amount of 5 star reviews will definitely make you stand out in local searches.
Check out how I use Google reviews and start building up some reviews for yourself! I typically take reviews from my customers accounts to showcase on their websites.

Website redesign went well.
It doesn't like my orange colour, guess I will have to change the tone but that's no biggie.

Seeking constructive criticism
If you're a designer or developer I would love to get some feedback on what you think of my freelance website overhaul.
I gutted the whole thing and started again, this time:
- I included a pro copywriter (worth every dollar)
- Designed around the copy they made me.
- Used the same design patterns throughout to make it easier to read.
I'm forever learning and I would be grateful for any feedback from the gun designers, developers and even marketers out there.

Used a copywriter to redo all the content in my website over the past week.
Man they’re better than I thought. What she came up with was 10x better than what me and chatGPT were spitting out 😂
