I’m guessing that eventually the security guards at Te Wai will stop shouting at people to get back behind the yellow line?

I fear next week's Twitter cabbie meltdown over Oxford Street's pedestrianisation will be apocalyptic. In 3 months' time, no one will care and will wonder why it wasn't done years ago
Remember the outrage when they removed cars from Trafalgar Square? Aldwych? Now, no one cares

Luxon blames 300,000+ Kiwis for not enrolling and blames the Electoral Commission, but takes no responsibility for changing the law in the first place. There's literally no gain.
The only outcome is disenfranchising 300,000+ Kiwis! They went out of their way to do this!
Apart from what looks like a piss-poor coffee, this is a great brekkie.
It‘s absurd to make a competitive sport of bread and butter, but the cafes and bakeries in Copenhagen have done that. The latest gastronomic sensation there is bread and butter with a slice of cheese. This in a city where the best restaurants serve foraged food. Moss, ants, fermented things, objects from intertidal zones etc. It’s called bolle med ost (bun with cheese). There’s warm sourdough with a dark crust you can hear across the table. And an interior of irregular chambers to accommodate butter. Butter we thought we knew. We’d bought it for decades, sometimes made it. This is different, whipped into folds. It’s a different physical state of fat. The cheese (usually Gammel Knas, that takes more than two years to mature) is for the salt and the nutty finish.
My wife and I became quiet whenever we ate the BMO. Married people will recognise this as one of the better sorts of silence. Neither party is in trouble.
Copenhagen’s bakers have been competing over this kind of stuff: flour, fermentation, seeds, the precise condition of butter, the moment when cheese is to be sliced.
We’ve now begun to resent all the bread and butter we’ve previously eaten.
Politicians just love it when public inertia gives them free rein to do, well, nothing really. newsroom.co.nz/2026/10/22/th…
2 headlines, one story. I read the clunky @rnz_news headline a few times in case I was overreacting to it. But it really does seem like an attempt to minimise the seriousness of the conviction.

That Simeon Brown’s first instinct here was to contest the families claims (and now he’s winding it back) shows you how much the media and pundits have overrated his political skills. nzherald.co.nz/nz/auckland/s…

There is something deeply wrong with a political system that allows one trillionaire to buy his own personal U.S. Senator.
Pretty massive difference between the countries that NZers view as friends and their perception of the country that our current govt has really aligned itself with.

NZ First with the biggest drop. Likely Nat voters switching back worried about a Lab/Grn/Oppo govt after Wong said Oppo will talk to largest party first. Explains Winston’s bullshit about Lab using back channels for a deal too, trying to stay relevant.
