Over 10 years ago I said I’d like to visit 100 countries by 40. Then I forgot.
9 years of searching “Everywhere” on Skyscanner…I’m at 86.
Some multiple. Some once.
16 months left, it’s within reach.
It’s official: Road to 100 🌍
Overnight stays only.
Next up: Andorra 🇦🇩
Confirmed Travel Plans:
Nov: Iceland 🇮🇸
Dec: Kuwait 🇰🇼 Bahrain 🇧🇭
Jan: Mauritania 🇲🇷
Mar: Rwanda 🇷🇼 Tanzania 🇹🇿 Kenya 🇰🇪 Uganda 🇺🇬 Oman 🇴🇲
May: Czechia 🇨🇿
I have 4 trips left to book for the U.K. 2027 bank holiday weekends 🌍
After relocating officially to Walsall from Wales 🏴 in June, tomorrow I’m finally back in the higher education sector, and start my new job (non teaching).
Excited, and all the wonderful benefits are back, which means a lot of trips to plan 🌍
Slight change to my Mauritania 🇲🇷 itinerary. I’m going to either take a shared taxi the morning I arrive in Dakhla or take the main bus direct to Nouakchott the following morning.
This means I’ll get to spend two nights in Atar and visit Chinguetti before going back to Dakhla.
Left: Kigali - Dar es Salaam = £262
Right: Kigali - Dar via Zanzibar = £177
Board the exact same Kigali - Dar flight, but close to £100 cheaper, without taking connection.
I want to go to Dar, not Zanzibar. What would you do?
This may have come across as a complaint. I’m very lucky to be able to travel and can’t wait for East Africa.
After not visiting Africa since my Senegal/Gambia/Guinea-Bissau trip in 2023 I forgot how much all of these additions build up, especially for multi country trips.
Both Tanzania and Kenya have implemented mandatory travel insurances, $52 and $44 respectively.
No other policy will be accepted. Another £72 cost to my East Africa trip.

Countdown to the next trip is on, and in just over a month I’ll be flying to Akureyri, Iceland 🇮🇸 for a couple of days.
Decided to skip Reykjavik, extortionate airport bus & hotel prices ⬆️
Akureyri Airport is a 40 min walk & far better value all-round.
Messed up with my Mauritania 🇲🇷 trip. By the time I cross by land to/from Dakhla it only leaves 4/5 full days in the country.
With only one road to Atar where I’d like to get to I’d be sat travelling for most of those days. Probably just explore Nouadhibou/Nouakchott instead.
The Road to 100 before 40 has hit a snag.
Plan was to do Canada, Philippines or South Korea for the 100th. A new job with leave from Aug - Jul has meant with already booked trips I’ve got only a few days leave spare.
Options are limited, Cape Verde the best option so far 🇨🇻
B or E. Likely to be costly with visas, logistically challenging, so the all expenses paid aspect would be useful.
Others are easy enough to do off my own back and I have or am planning to. Let’s face it I’d do all of this off my own back.
That virus from Azerbaijan wiped me for two weeks! Finally human!
Plenty of travel in the works:
November: Akureyri, Iceland 🇮🇸
December: Turkey 🇹🇷 Kuwait 🇰🇼 Bahrain 🇧🇭
January: Mauritania 🇲🇷
March: Rwanda 🇷🇼 Tanzania 🇹🇿 Kenya 🇰🇪 Uganda 🇺🇬
May: Prague 🇨🇿

Saudi Arabia 🇸🇦 Visa Question:
Can a British citizen travelling on the new Saudi Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) enter Saudi Arabia by land via the King Fahd Causeway from Bahrain or is it just restricted to airport entry only?
I have zero interest in ever returning to Antalya Airport again.
Absolute cattle market. Expected it as it’s the Turkey bucket and spade hub, but my god it’s horrendous.
This was my transfer airport beck to the U.K.
There are worst places to be unwell. Hotel prices were crazy high because of the F1 in Baku this weekend, but got this for £60 🇦🇿
