For 109 years, Ichafu has consistently been a basic scarf.
Suddenly in 2025, Ibo want to claim Yoruba's Gele; now they're trying to redefine ichafu as "any" headtie, including Gele.

Arome went viral on September 26, 2026 for one simple reason: the internet noticed the contradiction.
1. @ApostleArome argued that Nigerians should stop measuring themselves against countries like China through manufacturing and industrial development because Nigeria’s national “calling” is revival.
2. Then Nigerians resurfaced an earlier sermon in which Osayi himself spoke about being in America and progressing towards a U.S. green card.
3. And suddenly the sermon became comedy.
4. Nigeria should specialise in revival, while China builds engines but when it comes to securing your own family’s future, somehow America enters the revelation.
5. That is why this travelled so quickly.
6. The Nigerian internet of 2026 is not the Nigerian congregation of twenty years ago. People search. They archive. They retrieve old videos. They compare what you preach with how you live.
7. You can preach sacrifice.
8. You can preach national destiny.
9. But social media will eventually ask:
“Pastor, is the revival also eligible for a Green Card?”
10. Times have changed.

Trump Moves To Tighten Children’s Passport Rules, Parents May Need Citizenship Proof
The Donald Trump administration in the United States is proposing tougher passport requirements for children, with parents potentially required to provide proof of their own U.S. citizenship or immigration status before their children can obtain passports.
According to a draft guidance reviewed by Reuters, the proposed policy would require parents or legal guardians applying for passports for minors to submit documents such as a valid U.S. passport, birth certificate, I 94 form or permanent residency card.
The State Department said the documents would help determine whether a child qualifies for U.S. citizenship under Trump’s August 6 executive order.
State Department spokesman Tommy Pigott defended the proposal, saying: “President Trump has been unequivocal that this administration will protect the meaning and value of American citizenship, full stop, and that includes making sure our passport adjudication process fully reflects that standard.”
The guidance is the first detailed implementation plan linked to Trump’s executive order targeting what his administration calls birth tourism, where foreign nationals travel to the U.S. to give birth so their children can obtain citizenship.
Trump’s earlier attempt to restrict birthright citizenship was declared unconstitutional by the U.S. Supreme Court in a 6 3 ruling, with the court citing the 14th Amendment’s Citizenship Clause.
His August 6 order is narrower and excludes children born to foreign government workers in the U.S., people who commit fra¥d to obtain citizenship, and those classified as alien enemies.
Currently, parents applying for a child’s passport generally only need to prove parentage and provide photo identification, while citizenship status is declared on the application without supporting documents.
The proposed changes are already facing legal challenges, with lawyers representing affected children asking federal courts to block the order.
If adopted, the policy would significantly change how children’s passports are issued and further tighten the Trump administration’s immigration

Nigerian Soldier Arrested After Begging for Money in Military Uniform During TikTok Live
A Nigerian soldier attached to the Nigerian Army Aviation Hangar in Minna, Niger State, has reportedly been arrested by military authorities after appearing in military uniform during a TikTok live session where he solicited financial assistance from popular content creator King Pedro.
The soldier was arrested at the 234 Battalion in Badagry, Lagos State, where he was staying, despite being attached to the Army Aviation Hangar in Minna.
A military source said the incident stemmed from a viral TikTok live session held on Saturday, during which the soldier allegedly asked King Pedro for money. Instead of offering help, the influencer criticised him for seeking financial assistance while dressed in military uniform.
During the live session, the soldier disclosed that he had served in the Nigerian Army for five years and was deployed to Niger State. When asked if he had eaten, he reportedly replied, “Yes sir, I have not eaten.”
Reacting, King Pedro condemned the soldier’s actions, saying he had disrespected the military uniform by wearing it while begging online. He warned that such conduct could attract disciplinary measures, adding that if the soldier wished to seek financial help, he should have done so in civilian clothing rather than in uniform.
A video recorded after the arrest reportedly showed the soldier identifying himself as being attached to the Nigerian Army Aviation Hangar in Minna while staying at the 234 Battalion in Badagry.

South Africa’s president Ramaphosa calls on African leaders to tackle v+olence and migration together
South African President Cyril Ramaphosa has urged African countries to work together to address migration, as his government faces growing pressure over recent att@cks on foreign nationals.
Speaking before the Pan-African Parliament on Monday, Ramaphosa said migration is a shared continental challenge that cannot be tackled by individual countries alone.
“As African countries, we have to acknowledge and address the conditions that drive migration in the first place,” he said.
“We need to work together to address issues like conflict, instability, governance failures, pov£rty and social discord.”
His remarks come after weeks of anti-migrant protests in South Africa, where xenophobic groups have accused undocumented migrants from other African countries of fuelling crime, worsening unemployment and putting pressure on public services.
Ramaphosa warned that poorly managed cross-border migration could thr£aten security and social stability.
According to an AFP tally based on figures from repatriating governments, more than 160,000 foreign nationals have left South Africa over the past two months in one of the country’s largest recent migrant exoduses.
At least four migrants have been k+lled in the v#olence, although some foreign governments claim the d+ath toll is higher.
Describing the att@cks as “sad and abhorrent,” Ramaphosa said, “We in South Africa deeply regret and mourn” the lives lost.
He added, “We’ve taken a firm stand against h@tred for people from other countries, xenophobia or Afrophobia.”
Ghana has called for an African Union debate on the v+olence, while two of its citizens have petitioned the International Criminal Court to investigate what they described as “repeated xenophobic att@cks.” Pretoria has dismissed the move as “opportunistic.”
South Africa has witnessed repeated outbreaks of xenophobic v+olence over the past two decades, but this is the first time several African governments have simultaneously organised voluntary repatriations for thousands of their citizens.
