Been reflecting on company narratives. In a new article, I explore how stories told at the coffee machine shape behavior more than any official policy. When those clash, that's where the real work begins.

A good list of books on forecasting (hard to do well) making sense and deciding in uncertainty. They still stand!
Replying to @eccemarco
Recommended list on forecasting, predicting, and decision making:
1. Read Tetlock's SuperForecasting as the first book (I wish I did, but alas I joined this party late).
Love this reflection on the complications of meetings with multiple nationalities - idioms, accents and patience for non-native speakers. Resonates strongly as I try to converse in bad French. Thanks Cornelis!

ALT Two people stand on two different staircases that end in the same place, labeled "Goal." The first staircase starts very close to the goal, and the person standing on is just a few steps away from the goal. The second staircase starts very far away from the goal, and the person on it is running up the stairs toward the goal. The person on the first staircase looks down at the person running up the second staircase and says, "Look how far behind they are, they must not be working as hard."
