We’re releasing SelvaBox, the largest tropical tree detection dataset from drone imagery. Our models trained on SelvaBox achieve competitive zero-shot detection performance on unseen tropical tree crown datasets, matching or exceeding competing methods. arxiv.org/abs/2507.00170

What if mycorrhizal dominance actually modifies tree diversity? We found that forests with different types of mycorrhizas – associations between fungi and plant roots – have a higher number of tree species!
Now published in @NatureEcoEvo

‼️Our manuscript with cool and surprising results on the impact of mycorrhizas on soil decomposition has just been accepted for publication. Relevant for carbon storage in forest! Amazing help by the editors and reviewers. Preprint here: doi.org/10.1101/2021.02.09.4… @traitlab
❌ No “Gadgil effect” was observed in ectomycorrhizal (EcM) forests
🍄 Decomposition was faster in EcM vs. arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) forests
🦥 Restricting access to external fungal hyphae slowed down decomposition in AM forests

Is the Si cycle governed by geochemical or biotic processes? @felixdetombeur shows that this depends on soil age. Plants accumulate Si on old soils and release it via litterfall in soluble forms. The Jurien Bay sequence amazes us once again. bit.ly/2QSdkXZ
