On a recent trip to Palani temple, I traveled by train from Chennai to Dindigul and then by car to Palani. On my return journey, I spotted a mountain with a unique shape and steep peak. ⛰️
🤔 Intrigued, I took a photo & researched it online, discovering to my surprise that

You're right. Unfortunately English doesn't have words to describe that state.
As per English language,
Detachment: "I don't want to be involved."
De-entanglement: "I am fully involved, but not bound."
Bhagavad Gita uses an apt word Anāsakti.
•Not indifference.
•Not withdrawal.
•Acting, loving, serving, and relating without clinging.

Sri Meenakshi Amman - The Divine Queen of Madurai 🌺🙏
Madurai is not just a city with an ancient temple. It is the sacred kingdom of Sri Meenakshi Amman.
According to the Thiruvilaiyadal Puranam, Meenakshi was born to the Pandya king Malayadhwaja and Queen Kanchanamalai following a yajna. She emerged from the sacred fire, displaying three breasts. A divine voice assured the king that the third breast would disappear when she met her destined consort.
Named Tadaatagai, she was raised as the heir to the Pandya throne. Trained in warfare and statecraft, she grew into a mighty warrior queen.
The name Meenakshi means the fish-eyed one - meen (fish) and akshi (eyes). Her eyes are traditionally likened to those of a fish, a symbol also associated with the Pandya dynasty.
✨ Her divine union with Shiva
When Meenakshi reached Kailasa during her campaign of conquest, she beheld Shiva. The prophecy was fulfilled, and she recognised him as her destined consort.
Shiva came to Madurai as Sri Sundareswarar, and their celestial wedding is celebrated during the annual Chithirai festival.
Meenakshi is revered as a sovereign Goddess in her own right. She is the Queen, the Mother and the presiding deity of Madurai, and her divine presence is inseparable from the identity of the city.

Pravṛtti is the path of engaging with the world: fulfilling duties, raising a family, earning a livelihood, serving society and living by Dharma.
Nivṛtti is the path of turning inward: letting go of worldly attachments, seeking self-knowledge and moving towards Moksha.
One is the journey outward through action; the other is the journey inward through detachment.
Sanātana Dharma recognises both paths: one teaches us how to live in the world, the other how to transcend our attachment to it.
Shubh Ratri 🙏🏽

Last night, I came across a video of Ganga Aarti in Kashi where the priests were performing the aarti despite the rain. Watching it took me straight back to 2022 when I visited Kashi for the very first time.
Honestly when I decided to visit Kashi, I barely knew anything about Kashi Vishwanath Ji. I just knew Maa Ganga was there..It was almost a random decision.
Before leaving, I did a little research and discovered Kashi Vishwanath Ji. After reaching Kashi, one night around 2 AM;I joined the queue for darshan. The queue was incredibly long... I stood there for hours and finally had darshan around 9:30 in the morning.
In between, I even fell down in the crowd but somehow continued..
But what stayed with me the most was the time I spent sitting at the ghats. I can't really explain what I felt there. The ghats, where faith feels like a way of life and the narrow streets, where every turn seems to hold a story had a charm I couldn't put into words. There was something about Kashi that made me not want to return. I remember wishing I could stay a little longer.
Even today ,every time I visit Kashi; I find it difficult to say goodbye. My heart never feels ready to leave. It's strange how a place can feel so much like home, even when it's not where you belong..
Some places are not just visited, they become a part of you. Kashi is that place for me. No matter how many times I visit, a part of me always wants to stay a little longer. Have you ever felt this way about a place ?

Is it unreasonable to expect a vegetarian zone around one of the holiest temples of Sanatan Dharma?
Somnath is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of Bhagavan Shiva. It is not merely a tourist destination or an ordinary commercial locality. It is a sacred pilgrimage centre, carrying immense spiritual and historical significance for Hindus.
Devotees visit Somnath with faith, reverence and a sense of sanctity. Expecting the immediate surroundings of such a revered shrine and its designated pilgrimage routes to respect the religious sentiments of pilgrims is hardly an unreasonable demand.

🇮🇳What does it take to bring more than 560 princely states into one nation?
Courage, political wisdom, determination and the ability to put national interest above everything else.
Born on 31 October 1875 in Nadiad, Gujarat, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel rose from a successful lawyer to become one of India’s most influential freedom fighters and nation-builders.
His leadership during the Kheda Satyagraha of 1918 and Bardoli Satyagraha of 1928 established him as a powerful voice for farmers. His success in Bardoli earned him the title “Sardar.”
But his defining contribution came after independence in 1947.
As India’s first Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister, Patel worked closely with V. P. Menon to integrate hundreds of princely states into the Indian Union. His diplomatic skill, firm decisions and strategic leadership were particularly significant in Junagadh and Hyderabad.
He also championed the All India Services, recognising their importance in maintaining administrative stability and national cohesion.
Today, the 182-metre Statue of Unity in Gujarat honours his extraordinary legacy. Yet his most enduring achievement remains the political integration of India.
Patel’s life reminds us that building a nation requires more than winning independence. It demands the courage to make difficult decisions and the vision to secure its future.
On his 151st birth anniversary, celebrated as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, we pay tribute to the Iron Man of India, whose leadership helped shape the country we know today.🇮🇳

The Cop who interrogated Ajmal Kasab
Former Mumbai Police Commissioner Rakesh Maria describes how he dealt with the only fidayeen (member of an Islamist suicide squad) caught alive on 26/11/2008, Ajmal Kasab.
Rakesh Maria says, that he was so angry at the series of attacks in which 170+ people died, his first reaction was - this guy deserves to be encountered. But, of course, being the only terrorist to have been caught alive that day, he was the only lead they had, to get to the masterminds of the attack - the only source of evidence to negate allegations by the Congress that the attacks had been planned by "saffron terrorists".
In fact, for the entire period that Kasab was in prison, he was accorded top security for fear that he might be poisoned. The Commissioner himself tasted the food brought in. Many times, the prisoner was given the water he brought for himself from home.
Commissioner Rakesh Maria found from Kasab's dialect that he belonged to the Punjab province of Pakistan. Maria himself being a Punjabi, rang up his father-in-law who was a Hindu who migrated from Undivided Punjab. He learnt about the landmarks and locales and about the general demographics. Armed with the basic background info, he met Kasab.
He spoke to Kasab in Punjabi. For Kasab, speaking to the Commissioner was a new experience. Until then, every cop who dealt with him, had been hostile and abusive. Here was someone who not only spoke Punjabi, but also treated him unlike other cops. The "Good cop" role played by Maria paid off. Kasab opened up to him and started divulging information. During the chat, he found out that the terrorist was close to his mother. He told Kasab he would make arrangements so that he could speak to his mother on phone.
Once Kasab let down his guard, Maria questioned him about the motive behind gunning down innocent people.
Kasab's reply.
In true Jihadi fashion, Kasab replied that the Moulvi at his madrasa had taught him that those who kill Kaafirs would go to Jannat. That after death, their bodies would emanate unearthly fragrance and heavenly glow.
At this, Maria took him on a trip to the morgue where the bodies of fellow fidayeen had been stored. The copses were badly mutilated, some with eyes blown out and some missing limbs. The bodies had started decomposing and stank to high heavens. Kasab saw for himself that the Kuran held out empty promises for the Shaheed.
Another of the teachings that had incited Kasab was - how Muslims in India were being persecuted by not being allowed to offer Namaaz or erect mosques.
But Maria took him around the city and showed him numerous mosques where Muslims prayed without any fear. From his prison room also, Kasab could hear the azaan multiple times a day.
All these revelations mellowed down the hardcore criminal.
He gave the Commissioner all information he had about his handlers in Pakistan.
