More devs means more apps, more innovation, more adoption and therefore, more demand for Solana tokens.
The builders already see it and the momentum proves it. The future of finance is being built here on Solana.
Early SocialFi copied Web2, chasing likes and followers.
When trades become the content, and conviction becomes engagement, P&L becomes the scoreboard.
This network can grow faster than any social farm.
Vertical and horizontal integration in defi:
The term "product" carries different meanings for tech people and finance people.
To tech people, a product means computer code: an API, a mobile app, a website.
To finance people, however, a product is an asset defined by parameters like principal, yield, term, risk.
Tech and finance people both use the word “product” - but mean entirely different things. How tech vs. finance products to scale and thrive is also different.
Tech people want vertical integration. They want to hold onto their users to monetize user activity and optimize rake. Walled gardens are good. e.g. Apple App Store. Google Suite. Superapps.
Finance people want horizontal integration. They want their asset to be everywhere, because they monetize issuance. No walled gardens, unless required by compliance. Money is a network business, so the bigger distribution you have, the more useful the asset, the more issuance, the more monetization whether through yield capture and/or mgmt fee.
Defi requires a mix of tech and finance thinking. The dapps should be vertically integrated. But the assets therein should retain their horizontal integration. This maximizes, in the long run, defi success.
The best app founders shouldn’t want their backends (eg chains) to be everywhere; while the best assets want to be everywhere.
A tech product person may have the urge to brand their assets - but this sacrifices liquidity, horizontal utility, and ultimately the desirability of the assets on the platform and therefore the attractiveness of the platform.
I don’t think it’s the right tradeoff to make if we’re here to build internet capital markets.
A trend doesn’t start with the crowd.
