Uganda 🇺🇬, Zambia 🇿🇲, South Africa 🇿🇦 and Ghana 🇬🇭 on one stage. Talent or passion may get you started, but building a business around it is what changes what’s possible. We can't deny the fact that right now, more young people are exploring careers beyond the conventional path of getting an education, finding employment and climbing the corporate ladder. But pursuing a talent and building something sustainable around it are two different things. There is a business behind the craft, there is positioning, there is communication, there are partnerships, intellectual property, commercial opportunities and the ability to communicate the value you bring to the table. This was the core of our conversation at the Music Meets Football Summit, organised by @OpenWindowUniv1 in Lusaka, Zambia. @victoria_nyanzi contribution focused on branding and positioning, but the conversation connected to the much bigger picture of how we are preparing young people for the future of work. Wether its through pursuing their talents or passions or the 9-5. For those pursuing their talents, this is where the ability to understand "the business of the talent" comes in, and here we had people like @eddiehatitye and @trigmaticrocks drop gems from their years of experience in understanding the business of talent like music. As we talk about the future of work, @victoria_nyanzi believes we need to broaden our understanding of the skills young people need. Yes, technical skills matter. So does the ability to do your craft exceptionally well. But people also need to understand how to position themselves, communicate their value, build relationships, identify opportunities and turn their capabilities into something commercially viable. And this applies to creatives, entrepreneurs, professionals and anyone building a career around what they know or can do. Perhaps the question we should be asking is not only how we prepare young people for the jobs of tomorrow, but also how we equip them to create opportunities of their own. PS: @victoria_nyanzi is currently taking bookings for Speaking, Training and Coaching engagements for 2027. Halo Zambia 🇿🇲 🇿🇲 🇿🇲 🇿🇲 This Friday, @victoria_nyanzi will be speaking at the Music Meets Football Summit at Open Window University in Lusaka, Zambia. I’ll be speaking about how creatives can build brands, partnerships and business platforms that outlive their careers which I know is a conversation beyond football and sports. One thing she's observed is that we can become so immersed in what we do that we begin to see ourselves only through the lens of our craft. An artist sees themselves as a musician only, a footballer sees themselves as a player only, a marketer sees themselves as a marketer. And there’s nothing wrong with being good at what you do. In fact, there’s so much value in being able to turn your passion into a career and earn from it. But what happens when you start looking beyond the craft? What else do you bring to the table? What is the value you offer beyond your talent or technical skills? How can you position that value to attract partnerships, build businesses and create opportunities that continue to exist even when you’re no longer performing, playing or actively practising your craft? @victoria_nyanzi believes these are important questions for anyone who is building a career, not just artists and football stars. For all my people in Lusaka that would love to attend, RSVP here 👉🏾 mozotvafrica.com/events PS: she is currently in Lusaka, Zambia for a couple of weeks and I’m taking bookings for Speaking, Training and Coaching engagements for 2027.
