I was born in 1990 in Papua New Guinea, 15 years after independence.
Growing up I heard the same thing from my parents and older people: the country was better under colonial rule. Australia handed us independence before we even discovered most of the mines and resources we have now.
I’ve watched the same pattern across Africa and other developing countries. External problems exist, but we have destroyed our own nations. Period.
I will never buy the “white man bad” bullshit. I have eyes, ears, and a brain. I’m 36. I’ve lived long enough to know the difference between real causes and convenient excuses.
I refuse to be a victim of anything except my own decisions.
