The disgraceful Netanyahu just posted this image of nuclear attack on Tel Aviv. (I’m currently drinking coffee at the very epicentre of this imagined attack, as it happens). 48 hours to go before the polls open and all he has left is fear and hysteria.

Trump, "I'm not in love with Norway. Frankly, Norway sucks. Norway has become a sh*thouse country"
My view:
That is the language of a president throwing a tantrum because Norway didn’t give him the Nobel Peace Prize.
The Nobel Peace Prize is awarded by an independent committee, but Trump’s response is to insult an entire country as though it personally owes him a medal.
It is crude, petty and revealing.
And the comparison makes his outburst look even more absurd.
In 2024, Norway’s gross government debt was about $62,600 per person, adjusted for purchasing power.
America’s was about $106,400.
Norway gives its residents universal healthcare coverage, while the US spends around $14,885 per person on healthcare and still doesn’t guarantee coverage to everyone.
Public universities in Norway are tuition-free for Norwegian and EU/EEA students; in the US, students commonly face substantial tuition bills.
And Norway has built an enormous sovereign wealth fund, worth 21.3 trillion kroner at the end of 2025, investing the country’s oil wealth for future generations.
Norway isn’t perfect, and its system has costs and trade-offs. But on public finances, healthcare access, university costs and saving national wealth, it has made choices the United States could learn from.
Trump’s insult sounds less like a serious judgement of Norway than envy and wounded vanity: a president attacking a country that has managed to provide things America still struggles to deliver for its own people.

Vučić is out in Serbia. Bolsonaro's family is not returning to power in Brazil. Machado is back in Venezuela. Great day for democracy!
Up next, elections in Israel this week.
Elections in the US next week.

How is Donald Trump’s criticism of President Zelensky interpreted in Moscow? “Moscow perceives these words as a mandate to continue military pressure,” writes one Russian paper. I ask Muscovites to name one word that’s important to them, & read what Russian schoolkids are taught about “defence of the Motherland.” #ReadingRussia

The day the spirit of cricket died.💔
Sehwag was on 99*, India needed 1 run to win, and Randiv bowled a deliberate, massive no-ball to deny him a century. India won the match, but the game lost its soul. Unsportsmanlike at its peak.🤯
Earlier today I suggested a one word description of Trump was areshole; happily, the same adjective applies to Musk.
"He screwed up Twitter. He screwed up the federal government."
Elon Musk promised his DOGE project would save America $2 trillion. He came nowhere close.
Was it always going to fail?

He was and remains one of the best bowlers that I have seen
Nasser Hussain and Muttiah Muralitharan were sitting together in the commentary box when Nasser said, “I was a very good player of spin. I averaged over 50 against Murali.”👀
Murali smiled and replied, “Yes… but I got you out 11 times.” 😄
Then Simon Helmot invited them to settle it with one ball. Even at 54 years of age, Murali bowled a beauty that completely beat Nasser on the very first delivery The entire ground burst into laughter, and Nasser could only laugh along 😂😂
