role-model is here: a model router for Pi that works with (almost) any cloud model as well as local models. Set up your pool of models, whether GPT 5.5 and DeepSeek V4, or Qwen 27B and Qwen 35B running locally, or combine and route between your local model for general chat and tool use and cloud models for more difficult tasks. role-model is a router runtime and and a forward-looking routing protocol that can enable consumer applications like Pi to classify its requests with required capabilities, task-type and suitable roles for better matching between task, role, and model. pi-role-model is a package for Pi that lets Pi manage and interact with role-model. role-model works perfectly with Pi even without the package - just configure your models in role-model, then configure role-model as your provider in Pi and choose routing alias. Install the package for Pi: ’pi install npm:@try-works/pi-role-model’ Then let your agent install and configure the role-model runtime or point it to: ‘github.com/try-works/role-mo…’ role-model is in an early alpha release - let me know bugs, issues or usability questions. also, tell me if it just happens to work perfectly for you! there's lots more to do and you can help by installing and running role-model, and by reposting this tweet! thx

996 is complete fake. They start working at 11. Lunch 12-2pm. Gym at 5-6pm. Dinner 6-7pm. Do some work or just slack off until 9pm.
Revolut founder Nik Storonsky says working weekends is essential to survive, calling it "purely statistical" "So China is 996. And then even if you are good in Europe or even if you are good in US, how can you outcompete people who work nine to nine, 6 days a week?" "When I started in the startup space, there were 140 companies. Within five years, only three companies survived. They all worked on weekends." "Within 10 years, only 2 companies survived out of 140. So I think work on weekends is a must if you want to survive. Purely statistical." "Out of all European companies, we're probably one of the hardest working, and I think we're also one of the hardest working companies if you include US as well."

Coming out of reddit Kimi K3.1 pro 3D work is mostly coming out of a 3D Gen model apparently.

The choice can not be clearer than this: 1) Kimi 3.1 Pro's 8.34$ income per AMD MI355X GPU / hr vs 2) DS V4.1 Flash' 38$ income per GB200 GPU / hr There is no match on economics between Moonshot and DeepSeek (although they are different model tiers). Off course, you can split hair and say it was on NVL72 for DS numbers. So what. Most GPUs are shipping in rack configurations / large scale up now. Nobody can avoid the pull of DS V4.1 Flash architecture: - Engram - Causal Encoder-Decoder (or Self Decoder) - KV Re-use In USA (SpaceX, Muse) and in China (Xiaomi, GLM, Kimi) all will have to adopt DS V4.1 Flash architecture. It is too good not to. Caveat: On Helios type rack/NVL72 Kimi K3.1's income per GPU will improve, though will be far less than that of DS v4.1 Flash.
PROFIT ALERT🚨: AMD @vllm_project can generate up to $3/hr/chip in pure profit serving the open-source Kimi K3 model, even after accounting for the rapid increase in chip rental prices post-Claude Code. Kimi K3 2.8T is a great model for AMD, as it has over 2.8 trillion parameters that can take advantage of AMD's 288GB per chip. B200 CANNOT fit Kimi K3 in a single server, so it has to use tensor parallelism or pipeline parallelism for communication across 400Gbit/s InfiniBand/Ethernet, which is 18x slower than the BW within an NVLink domain.

Here's a serious and thorough post about the state of affairs at @Kimi_Moonshot and more importantly the possible causes. This is a long post, built on more than a decade of experience. I have been roasting them for the past two days, but a month ago I also defended them when Anthropic said they routed Kimi user requests to Opus - see my Articles. First, let's start with an overview of what Moonshot has done to its users over the past 6 months: - Cut Kimi plan quotas so bad after the K2.7 and K3 releases that they're all unusable and basically scams. OpenAI's cuts are bad; Kimi's are twice as bad - Released K3 in July with a campaign of unmarked, sponsored influencer post with faked videos of what their model had supposedly produced - I called it out then, too - Price fixed Kimi K3: inference providers in the US and EU are not allowed to set their own prices but must follow the minimum prices set by Moonshot. This is illegal in every functioning country; Apple got convicted for this with their ebook pricing, remember? - Stole the open source code from Cua, relabelled it and claimed they had invented computer use in their Kimi agent - Released K3.1 with another unmarked influencer campaign, with more fake videos - Tampered with K3.1 benchmark scores for DeepSeek in their release materials When you look at the above, you see that these are pretty serious things that could break any brand. If you do this, you either have to think your users are stupid, or not care, or be stupid yourself. When it comes international brands selling into China, and Chinese brands selling to international markets, they both exhibit all three characteristics. I've heard to many Europeans talk about their business ideas: just pick a product, slap a European-brand on it, talk about it being from whichever country, and then the Chinese customers will just buy it without thought. This never works, but these entrepreneurs are ignorant, have no will to learn the market, and regard their potential customer base as NPCs. They view China as another world and cannot reason about it, and because they cannot reason about China, they cannot treat it seriously. For this reason, there have been numerous advertising scandals with European brands getting slaughtered online, because their leadership in HQ outside of China made tone dead decisions in their communication. D&G, Prada, Nike, adidas, Arcteryx, there's been too many internet campaigns against brands for their ad campaigns to remember. For most Chinese companies trying to go international, it is the same but in reverse. They do not understand the international markets, they don't care to educate themselves, they see the world outside China as something otherly, and feel shielded from any negative repercussions from far away countries. They see their users as NPCs. If you wanted to get a refund for your Kimi coding plan, what can you really do? Most likely nothing, and your X posts won't get noticed. When it comes to the campaign for the K3.1 launch, Moonshot did a number of things that just spell incompetence: - Create ready made videos for publishing by influencers, this is basically unheard of - Try to hide that posts are sponsored, to generate the impression of organic user feedback - Require approval before publication When you do these kinds of campaigns, you don't ask for approval because you need to trust the creator; otherwise the content suffers. You don't try to hide that videos are sponsored, because the potential backlash for this type of manipulation is 100x worse than the value, as we see now. And well, creating fake videos.... 无语。 Some have speculated that the error is on the side of a marketing agency, but that is unlikely. The brief is always created by the company for the agency, and everything that goes out is approved by the customer. Most likely, the marketing team at Moonshot must have said that doing hidden influence campaigns like this is risky, but could have been forced by leadership who wanted to "ensure ROI" on their marketing investment by controlling content. So what it really comes down to is a company leadership that does not know or care about laws in other markets or does not care about them, feel like this type of manipulation is worth the risk, and see users as NPCs. At the end of the day, this is false advertising and when you combine this with Moonshot's price fixing, it is not just that it is dishonest but it is complete and utter disrespect of laws of other countries - mind you, all of this is certainly illegal in China, too. To close this out, what really needs to happen now is that the price fixing is reported and investigated. Inference providers are clearly not able to push back on Moonshot themselves, as they're in a competition to be able to offer the newest hyped model as soon as possible. Don't ban the models, but hit down hard on illegal business practices by the company.

Science is not some hobby that serves the self actualization of people in a publicly sponsored job placement program. It is the systematic search for truth.
Wow, over 1,000 mathematicians have now joined the Association for Human Mathematics (AHM), committing to: > NOT publish AI generated math papers > NOT work with frontier labs > 654 of them went even further to NOT even use AI in their research, at all

Fuck this Chinese job market. Young people are getting absolutely fucked. No real opportunities, shit pay that barely covers rent, and you're expected to grind 996 like a dog. Overtime is mandatory, weekends are optional, and if you complain you get replaced by the next desperate grad. Everyone's killing each other for scraps. Involution is out of control — 300 people fighting for one mediocre position, then the winner gets paid like shit and worked to death. Graduates with master's degrees delivering food or sitting on their parents' couch. Companies treat you like disposable labor. No raises, no promotions, just more work and the constant threat of being laid off. The economy's trash, private sector is dying, and the only "stable" path is fighting millions for a government job that might not even exist by the time you get it. It's a fucking meat grinder. Opportunity? What opportunity. Just endless competition and poverty wages.

Once again I am telling you that LLMs are running the standard-issue Gartner hype cycle.
Apollo chief economist Torsten Slok just published a gloomy report on AI. imo, other signals I’m watching don’t really support these. > Slok says mainstream firms don’t need the latest model and won’t pay for it, and with no bottom-line gain they now treat token spending as a cost center that weighs on margins. > He says, total factor productivity growth sits near 0%, and Slok expects AI’s macro effect to stay very limited while agentic AI and token spending remain confined to a small slice of firms. > Argues cheaper, commoditized models may not close the gap, because per him, business value depends on judgment, accountability, trust and unwritten rules that AI doesn’t understand.

It's tough being the public face of something you don't control. Tibo wasn't the reason people switched to Codex. He didn't train any models or provision infra. He's also not the reason Codex users are leaving. It's all about quotas and whether you're able to do your work or not. Somebody messed up and now Tibos cortisol is permanently spiked.

Chinese labs have the most compute in the world after OpenAI and Anthropic. (Google is not a lab, SpaceX is not a lab)
1. Chinese labs cite compute availability as their biggest obstacle 2. Not sure how useful AA is anymore 3. I doubt US Capex is going to pay off for investors, but it's helping to build amazing models
