🇬🇧 The British government has officially approved production at Jackdaw, the UK's largest known untapped gas field, with supplies expected to start flowing by the end of October. Located approximately 150 miles east of Aberdeen, the North Sea project is expected to increase Britain's domestic gas production by around 6% at peak output. The field could produce the equivalent of 40,000 barrels of oil per day, enough gas to heat approximately 1.4 million homes. More than £2 billion has already been invested in the project, which was originally approved in 2022 before legal challenges over its environmental impact delayed production. The decision marks a shift toward greater reliance on domestic energy resources as Britain struggles with high energy costs and declining North Sea production. However, the government has acknowledged that Jackdaw will not reduce household energy bills this winter, with its output representing only around 2% of Britain's total gas demand. Built Ask TSN for #FluxWeek43 🔎 asktsn.app.runonflux.io/ Ask a question and get answers quoted straight from TSN's 1,441 published articles (10,436 passages), each with a link to the source article. If TSN hasn't covered it, it says "Not covered in TSN articles yet" instead of guessing. How it works: BM25 keyword search pulls candidate passages, then OpenDecider nano (a ModernBERT encoder, 28 layers, ~760 MB, Apache-2.0) scores each one twice: is it relevant, and does it actually contain the answer? Only passages that pass both are shown. Quotes only, nothing generated. Runs on an ordinary CPU inside the container. No GPU, no paid AI API. The index rebuilds every night, so new TSN posts appear automatically. @RunOnFlux this was super simple to deploy! Model: huggingface.co/manjunathshiv…
