I've always dreamed of this day. So glad I get to experience it. If you haven't rode in a @robotaxi, its a great experience. And I will say first hand its safe.
My experience below.
Riding in a robotaxi in Austin when a driver suddenly cut across multiple lanes of traffic and right in front of us. The robotaxi immediately slammed on the brakes, safely avoided a collision, and smoothly navigated around the vehicle without missing a beat.
Pretty impressive to see autonomous driving handle a real-world situation like that! Great Job to the @robotaxi dev team!
And the next milestone came pretty quickly. Robotaxi is now serving in as many cities as Waymo. Also more than double the area.
this joke of a website.. ableteams . com is the worst software I have ever used.. Don't recommend to anyone.. I should take all of their business.
What a week! Day trips to Austin for dinners, happy hours, and golf with business leaders and investors. Back to Houston to host my monthly founders event. Long days, late nights, and doing what it takes to build something.
This is the game.
Everyone built for the easy case: cloud-native, always-connected, agent-in-a-container, self-serve.
That market has 40 vendors and a pricing floor near zero.
Air-gapped, embedded, OT, flight software โ almost nobody, because it's hard.
Difficulty is a moat that doesn't erode.
Persistence: maintaining access across reboots and credential changes. Not getting in โ still being there after everything resets.
Enterprise sales is identical.
Champion reorged. Budget frozen. CISO gone. That's a reboot, not a loss.
Access via one person is a session.
Nobody red teams their pitch. Everybody rehearses it. Opposite activities.
Rehearsing = fluent in your best case.
Red teaming = survivable in your worst.
Attack your deck like the competitor who wants the account. Any deflection is a live vuln your buyer already found.
Before any hire: what's the blast radius if this is wrong?
Small radius (lose a quarter of output) โ hire fast, take the swing.
Company-wide radius (first security eng, first seller in a market of 11 buyers who all talk) โ move deliberately.
"Hire slow" is dogma too.
A checkbox has never stopped an adversary.
I sell compliance automation. Read it again.
Compliance is the floor. Written by committee, lagging the threat by years, describing one day of the year.
Automate the floor until it's free. Spend your attention above it.
Cold outreach fails for the same reason bad phishing fails: no recon.
Good attacker: knows your stack, your renewal date, who just got hired, what they're under pressure to fix. Sends one message.
Bad rep: 400 "quick questions."
Spam vs relevance is the hours before the copy.
Every founder threat-models their infra.
Almost none threat-model the business.
Crown jewels: the 2 customers whose churn takes 3 logos with them.
Initial access: the champion who left.
Persistence: what survives your buyer's promotion.
Same diagram. Different asset.
Security measures mean time to detect, because the cost isn't the intrusion โ it's the dwell time.
Run it on your company:
How long between a deal going cold and you knowing?
A hire failing and someone saying so out loud?
Pricing being wrong and the data telling you?
Building a defense-sector security company from Northwest Arkansas.
Supposed to be a disadvantage. My customers aren't in SF either โ they're machine shops and fabricators under CMMC pressure in states most funds can't name.
Optimize location for your buyer, not your ego.
Why not skill up.. Refresh my mind and learn more.. build an application for that training to help with CISM training and other cybersecurity training.
Maybe even my team would benefit from this tool. electron app prob after.. Or a free iOS and Android app..
"We'll do security later, after PMF."
Later = an enterprise deal shows up with a 300-question security questionnaire and you either stall 4 months or lie.
Built in: ~10% velocity.
Retrofitted: a quarter and your credibility.
Speed isn't the enemy of security. Rework is.
