I’ve met some of my best friends (writing and otherwise) through the gift of Twitter. Isn’t it wild how tweets can lead to new adventures? ✈️💫

Congrats to my #travel friend @michaelturtle on his column in the Australian paper! (So many stories since pasta & @Lamborghini 🏎🍝) “Regardless of whether you've flown across the world or driven down the coast, there are always opportunities to discover new things.”
From the blog to a metro newspaper! I'm v excited to announce my new column in the @canberratimes! Each weekend I'll share my travel experiences, with interesting destinations, helpful advice, or thoughts on an issue. You can read my introduction column: canberratimes.com.au/story/6…

If you want to believe that Oregon is an animated wonderland, we aren’t going to stop you.
“The call to travel...it’s one that we should trust.” -@CherylStrayed I followed that call all the way around the planet (a journey rich enough to feed me for a lifetime), and in a way, it led me all the way here to #AWP19 🌏🍽📚

Watching this tonight with my girls, giddy to point out so many familiar spots where Ted and I trekked: Torres del Paine in Chilean Patagonia, the Bolivian salt flats, Machu Picchu in Peru. (Also noteworthy: that cloud forest toad’s crazy 3D camouflage!) pbs.org/video/andes-zizzth/

Nearly seven years ago, I met @archanapram on the www. We traveled the planet at the same time, swapping blog stories and inspirations (and acknowledging the real-life-travel-isn’t-always-glamorous undercurrents). Today, happy day! We met in person for hugs + doughnuts 💞🍩🌏

Man, oh man. The way it still rings in my ears from the echo chamber of travel blogs. teapaw.org/kaitlincurtice/status/…
"The world is your oyster" is a statement of privilege, claiming that we can grab and take whatever we want, whenever we want, because we've got the money we want. In fact, the world is not ours. Perhaps we belong to her. We're just children resting in her ages--old beauty.

Ayup. I feel the same. Possibly in a Grandpa Simpson kind of way. *shakes stick* I feel like, if the best story you can tell about a place is that it encountered *you*, you're not trying very hard as a travel writer. :)

So, I spent way too long putting photos from my New Zealand fishing trip with my dad into an ebook: twooregonians.com/fly-fishin… (But it's fun!)

T-minus 20 hours + counting until #twoOtowichita, and I haven't started packing. Gutsy? Cool as a cucumber travel pro? I don't really know.

Central Oregon for a week. Marking a few memories on this trail. (Was it really a quarter century ago that I was coming here as a kid?)

Supposed to be skedaddling into the post office right now but glued to my car radio in the parking lot. @ChefVitalyPaley's stories are 👌🏼 teapaw.org/heathmanpdx/status/788…
