Major Incident strategy shouldn’t be just a ring-binder or intranet guideline. It needs tested, developed, experienced by all staff and tested again. This is achievable, affordable and essential. On the day that all hope will never happen, staff and patients depend on it.

2. How many hospitals actually have enough space for a sudden influx of patients?
