One of the proudest moments of my life to be able to part of this emergent LIVE Esports event #EnterAtmosphere2954 with the @ATMOesports and the most dedicated team I've ever worked with, coming together to produce this awesome spectacle! Wouldn't be possible without the ongoing support of @CloudImperium @RobertsSpaceInd, our sponsors and the #Starcitizen community! The production quality and professionalism ramps up each year we work together. Pushing boundaries, going boldly beyond.
To: @RobertsSpaceInd & the #StarCitizen Community,
Thank you for your support and for believing in us, because without all of you, none of this would be possible.

If there ever was a time you'd be interested in an opinion on @squadron_42's FPS combat, I've made a 27 minute video JUST FOR YOU! It took a while, but I'm pretty happy where it ended up. Feel free to ask questions, link below :)
Check out @En1gm4tic_SC's detailed breakdown of FPS gameplay during the 5hr playthrough of #Squadron42 set in the universe of #StarCitizen.

A gift from Hobb3s at the SQ42 event, the beer bottle is a custom design so I consider it a special vintage which I enjoyed on my return home! :) Saving one bottle for the special occasion when #Squadron42 releases! #StarCitizen
Take a look at @Morphologis' take on how he found the #Squadron42's gameplay.

The United Empire of Earth stands on the brink of collapse as threats both human and alien emerge from the darkest reaches of space.
Enlist as a rookie pilot and fight for humanity's future in a cinematic, single-player space adventure.
Launches Q2 2027.
After spending the weekend in Manchester w/ friends testing out Squadron 42, speaking w/ Mark Hamill, catching up w/ Chris & Sandi, and experiencing the Manchester night life (they get down for days at a time...), I've finally recovered enough to have clarity of thought on SQ42. (Even w/ having a baby girl this past Tuesday).
Playing Star Citizen last night, walking around in a new ship, and seeing the verse, only made me envision what it will be like when the tech from SQ42 comes over to Star Citizen, because as fun as SC has been for me over the years, after just 1 weekend w/ SQ42 my perspective on SC has changed. Star Citizen is going to be, a 2nd life. That is what Chris and his team have set a path for. SQ42, makes you want to take your time, see and experience the world around you, get to know your shipmates, hear their stories, watch the news, try out the various ship (Idris) facilities, mess hall foods, simulators, arcade games, armory, and so much more...
I walk around my new ship in Star Citizen, w/ a ghostly vision of the likely future of SC w/ SQ42 tech, and I'm completely and utterly blown away.
SQ42 = 8.9
I give it this score as I'm knowingly biased. I don't enjoy single player games, I don't enjoy puzzle games, I don't enjoy playing alone as that time could be spent playing w/ friends. But SQ42, painted a picture, created a living world around me, made me feel like my character wasn't just some main character, but an individual surrounded by so many others who were just as important, who cared about my success and the success of others around them.
I got goosebumps in 3 separate instances playing SQ42.
You can't fake goosebumps...
After getting through the initial "welcome to the s*it", that's when the opening credits started, and I'm like "damn, I'm in for it..." that's when I 1st got up from my PC to walk around to regroup. I think that's when someone in my group cried a bit.
Audio = 10/10 no notes. In fact, they gave us a cassette tape, I hate them and love them for this...
Graphics = moot point. Yes incredible, but more importantly, it should run well on various system configurations, and I'm pushing for it to run w/ a good experience on a 1080ti. A 2070 GPU should be fine as of right now.
If you can afford it, a monitor w/ RGB Stripe technology is what you want due to the large amount of text in game. Wait for prices to come down around when SQ42 launches.
VR = Wait for it... And what I mean by that is, there are no VR headsets out that will do SQ42 justice. YES, there are plenty to choose from that are available today, but what you will want, I'll talk about at CES 2027 (January 2027). Don't waste money on a Steam Frame for example if you want to play SQ42.
VR gives you an actual sense of scale, for example, a small single seater ship, is actually HUGE!
SQ42 is a Chris Roberts / Wing Commander game. Part cinematic story movie, part heart pounding gameplay. If you like Dungeons and Dragons, there is a lot for you here. Same for Battlefield, Planet Side, Flight Simulator, No Mans Sky, Minesweeper, Chess, Diablo, EverQuest, CSGO, APEX Legends, and so many popular titles over the decades. It's not for everyone, but I do believe everyone will find something in SQ42 that they will be amazed about, and potentially be like me, and want to play more.
Thank you for the experience, and I only wish more people could have attended this incredible weekend.

❤️ Our final day at CIG’s #Squadron42 VIP event was a powerful reminder that this journey has always been about more than just a game.
During our Q&A, @SandiRoberts42 took a heartfelt moment to recognize the ENTIRE community. The @CloudImperium team expressed their deepest gratitude for the years of unwavering support, passion, patience, and honest feedback from backers around the world.
Every voice, every contribution, and every year of dedication has helped shape #StarCitizen and #Squadron42 into something truly special.
The team couldn’t be prouder of this community, and after witnessing their passion firsthand, I couldn’t be prouder to be part of it.

In case it doesn't go without saying, no AI was used to create the score for #squadron42. It's a handmade thing, brought to life with the help of hundreds of musicians and singers and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Some details about SQ42 stuff I personally discovered for the creatives/virtual photographers:
Photo Mode.
Very similar to photo modes you see in a lot of single player games these days.
- On screen controls/sliders. Focal length, aperture, and focus distance (there is autofocus as well), etc
- camera works like free cam (not stuck to orbiting character/ship). Camera controls as you’d expect. Forward/back/left/right. You can hold right mouse button to free look. Q & E to roll (which is something we don’t have without using head tracking in SC right now)
There did not seem to be any boundaries to how far away I could move the camera, although I didn’t spend too much time trying to push extremes.
- exposure slider, but no white balance/tint/contrast (let’s be real tho - most of us like doing this stuff in post anyways and capturing the in game ‘clean’)
- accessed through the pause screen, photo mode freezes time - easy to get action shots. I did see an option to unfreeze time as well if desired. I assume this will let you capture video as well combined with the hide HUD key.
- while this photo mode exists, our familiar f4 cinematic camera/third person camera remains untouched as well if you prefer using that instead.
"So, what did we learn today?" We got to look behind the curtain of Jared's office and collection of vintage spirits from around the verse. @RobertsSpaceInd @squadron_42 @CloudImperium @ATMOesports #StarCitizen #Squadron42 #ATMOEsports – at Manchester, England
