#Nagaland | Nagaland United Sports Club will begin a historic chapter in the state’s football journey when they face Real Kashmir at Srinagar’s TRC Stadium on October 30, marking Nagaland’s return to the national-league stage after a 78-year wait.
Founded in 2024 in Chumoukedima, the debutants secured Aizawl FC’s place in the Indian Football League (IFL) through a goodwill agreement approved by the All India Football Federation on September 9. The Mizoram-based club has pledged technical and development support to help Nagaland United establish themselves at the national level.
The club’s journey carries added significance for Nagaland, whose footballing identity is closely linked to Talimeren Ao, captain of independent India’s first Olympic football team in 1948. Ao led India against France in the country’s first Olympic football match before returning to medicine and becoming Nagaland’s first Director of Health Services.
Nagaland United played their first competitive match on January 28, 2025, losing 2-3 to Barak FC on the day Chumoukedima’s new stadium was inaugurated. The date also marked what would have been Ao’s 107th birthday.
The club finished second among seven teams in the league phase, conceding just nine goals in 12 matches, before securing third place after the play-offs. They subsequently won their first trophy in October 2025, defeating Chedema Village Youth Organisation 3-1 in the NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy final. Arap Konyak, Joel Haokip and Manton Konyak scored in the title-deciding match, while coach Khogen Singh received the best coach award.
Nagaland United’s entry into the IFL also reflects the growing ambition to provide local footballers with a pathway to professional competition. The club has prioritised Naga players while retaining an experienced squad and support staff.
Two young footballers, Ghuqhe Chishi, a 20-year-old central midfielder, and Vinato Achumi, both products of Nagaland’s under-20 sides, have earned places in the IFL squad.
Club coordinator Gentleson Vashum said plans included 20 league matches, divided equally between home and away fixtures, alongside the development of FIFA-approved artificial turf at Chumoukedima.
Board member Abu Metha said the club could not afford to wait years to climb through the lower divisions. “Whenever you enter any arena, you enter to win,” he said.
Nagaland United will host Gokulam Kerala in their first home fixture on November 14, followed by Dempo and Mohammedan Sporting on December 19.
For Nagaland, the October 30 opener represents more than a league debut. It marks a significant step towards building a national platform for local talent while carrying forward the legacy of Talimeren Ao.

A landmark step for the future of football in the Northeast 🔴⚪️⚫
NorthEast United FC extends its heartfelt gratitude to the Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri. Conrad K. Sangma, the Meghalaya Cabinet, and Commissioner & Secretary, Sports and Youth Affairs Department, Government of Meghalaya, Dr. Vijay Kumar for their vision and support in making this milestone possible.
This academy will be our long-term commitment to discovering and developing the Northeast’s finest talent, empowering young footballers with the infrastructure, coaching and opportunities to turn their dreams into reality, and building a stronger pathway from the grassroots to the highest levels of the game.
Together, we aspire to shape the next generation of footballing talent and further strengthen the Northeast’s place on the map of Indian football 🌄⚽

Cabinet has approved the lease of 19.99 acres of land at Mawkhanu, New Shillong, to Northeast United FC for 45 years to establish a football academy.
With a proposed investment of ₹40–50 Crore, the academy will include three football grounds, accommodation and other facilities to nurture local talent and prepare young players to compete at the highest levels.
While we continue to strengthen grassroots football through Mission Football and support local clubs, this initiative will help bridge the gap between grassroots development and professional football.

El Barcelona es un Club inmoral y despreciable. En el Bernabéu no sucede nada si alguien acude con una camiseta azulgrana.
Yes, the only times it matters is when a certain academy from Mohali plays against a random Liverpool academy from Dubai and win 8-1 or something using overage players in that category 😋

Ni con Nigreira. All they do is cheat and cry.
🚨 RMTV: "Some people like to say that we only speak about referees when we have bad results, to distract people or whatever.
Well now, we just won El Clasico, and let's say it NOW.
Why didn't VAR check Cancelo's stomp on Diomande?
Why didn't it check Yamal's stomp on Bellingham?
Why didn't VAR check Balde's handball?"

Reminder:🚨🚨🚨
Real Madrid are playing against a club currently facing criminal proceedings for alleged sporting corruption, following charges brought by Spanish prosecutors.
The case emerged after Spain’s Tax Agency uncovered millions of euros in payments secretly made over nearly two decades to the vice-president of Spain’s refereeing committee.
And today’s match is being officiated by a referee who was promoted during Negreira’s tenure and is associated with AESAF, a referees’ organisation that has even taken legal action against Real Madrid. And the referee Munuera has also paid and received coaching from Negreira’s son, Enrique Romero.
Let that sink in.
