I wonder whether Anthropic gets paid by other companies so that Claude refuses to reverse engineer their software

Fun Fact: The parent company of the organizers of the next app devCon actually owns the City Cube in Berlin.

The state of Berlin owns Messe Berlin. Messe Berlin owns the City Cube building and the Mobile Seasons GmbH. And they organize the app next devCon

I guess one learning of the explosion of slop code is that despite it, most software still works. Apparently we didn't need all that clean code 🤷‍♂️

AI agents can ship PRs faster than anyone can review them. How do you stop the slop from reaching prod? ⚠️ @ue_man shares patterns from Wolt at agentic codingCon Berlin. Learn more: eu1.hubs.ly/H0ykBLH0 #nextapp26 #AgenticAI

To be fair, the picture of Osnabrück (first picture) doesn't show the pretty parts of the city center. We have a little bit of old town and a river crossing the city center
meanwhile, this is how the average german city centre looks now shops are closing left and right, buildings as old as my grandparents, no new investments into anything with china now dominating manufacturing, and the massive brain drain, the next logical step is possibly taxation by citizenship (the leftist party already campaigned on this during covid but it was deemed inconstitutional) the part that i don't understand is why germany isn't focusing on getting more high-skilled labor into the country in my last freelance position, i was working with a couple of indian and polish people, equally hard working similarly, there are tons of people here in southeast asia as well as latin america, populaitons who are much more culturally aligned when it comes to religion, openess, work ethic, etc., who die for a chance of working in germany

How does the text watermark work for JSON generation? Or for other constrained text formats?

Godot's Third Person Shooter demo, ported to Flutter Scene as a fun stress test. Running in Flutter 3.47 on Flutter GPU and Impeller, the built-in graphics stack. 617 MiB of cooked content. 1,795,763 unique vertices, 659,079 unique triangles, 320 collision meshes, 23 punctual lights. Converted to Scene's own scene description format for AOT baking. The lighting doesn't look as moody as the original and needs a bunch of adjusting. Way too much light spilling in from the environment map... But a pretty decent port so far!

LLMs now do the right thing without skills surprisingly often. You might be surprised how many skills you can get rid of
Useful discovery of the day: it seems that frontier models are trained enough on my couple decades of open source work that I can just say "write a commit message in mitchellh style" without any further skills and it does pretty much the right thing. 😜

My favorite conspiracy theory is that this is done to bloat token output since input and output tokens are paid for by the user
Fable really likes its comments. Damn.

I took a train ride today and the guy next to me created a presentation based on an email without AI like a caveman. And all that was for a pretty big food company. Folks, we're still in the early phase of AI!

Is it already time to rebrand ourselves as an AI token optimization specialist?

Anthropic is IPOing now since companies are starting to take measures to limit or even reduce AI spend. OpenAI is probably wrong in not doing an IPO now

From what I'm seeing and hearing this seems to be the new industry standard and it's not just Uber setting these limits

I hate how CLAUDE.md and AGENTS.md are the new README.md

Multiple things about AI are true at the same time in big companies: - It's still in the adoption phase and not widely used - AI still does not significantly increase productivity - It's already used a ton and thus it's expensive enough for leaders to put limits on it

So I can become a principal engineer by saying yes to everyone?
When I worked at Eventbrite I used to joke all the time that our principal engineers were where jira tickets went to die. Unfortunately I’ve now become exactly that person, holding onto 3 tasks for over a month, because I am bad at saying no.

I present to you the ✨slopalyzer✨
What are the most AI-slop ridden OSS projects you know of? Need data for a tool I'm building.

It's kinda annoying that despite LLMs the last 20% of the project still takes 80% of the time
