The top 1% of AI spenders now outspend the bottom 50% combined They spend an average of $903/month, while the median customer spends just $25 More charts in our Top 100 Consumer AI Apps breakdown: a16z.news/p/top-100-consumer…
The seventh edition of our Top 100 Consumer AI Apps is here. New this time: a revenue leaderboard, alongside the usual web and mobile traffic rankings. Three years ago we published the first edition. ChatGPT was #1, Claude was unranked, and the entire category was chatbots, image generators, and not much else. In today's edition: - ChatGPT still holds the throne, now with 1B+ monthly actives on mobile - Claude has climbed to #3 on web with nearly 1B monthly visits - The category has expanded to vibe coding (Lovable, Cursor, Replit), music (Suno), design (Figma), voice (ElevenLabs), video (Higgsfield, Kling), agents (Manus), and even hardware (Plaud) Full breakdown from @omooretweets: a16z.news/p/top-100-consumer…

"We replaced Salesforce with a vibe-coded CRM built for our own workflows. The custom system integrated our AI agents more effectively, worked better for the team, and made Salesforce unnecessary. That decision cut a $600,000 annual software bill to zero." Is this an anomaly or the start of a much larger trend @chamath @Avishai_ab @jasonlk @benioff

I’m not convinced that a single UI designer works at any of the major car brands. They all look like they were shipped by engineers without any design involvement

The new GPT Engineer is insane. I just wrote a single sentence and it created me a landing page for a SaaS business! It outputs the code, allows you to modify anything and publish it with just one click 🤯

If you take a moment to observe the real-world interaction systems around us that have been used for some time, you'll notice they tell a story of past interactions. You can see the physical evidence of how users have interacted with them – like scratches and fingerprints. While some might view this wear and tear as a drawback, I believe it has several components that help make the UX better: Memory: Collective and Personal. These artifacts store the history of interactions. This storage system has a practical impact: it optimizes our cognitive load. When interacting with a system, it subtly guides you based on your past interactions. For instance, the most worn button on a dashboard often indicates the starting point of interaction. Insights: Pattern Recognition. Even with a system you've never used before, these signs of aging can offer valuable clues. They reveal interaction patterns through their imperfections. Take a beat-making machine as an example. The most worn pads – maybe those labeled "Kick," "Hits," and "Share" – not only show their frequent use but also guide you on how to interact with the device and which aspects of it deserve your attention. I made a prototype to understand how the idea might work on touch devices. I slightly exaggerated the "aging" effect. But it felt good. I think this approach would benefit spatial interaction systems more since it resembled real-world objects' behavior the most. #ux #uxdesign #interactiondesign #uidesign #ui #swiftui #prototyping

Amazing design choices :D
some thoughts on humane. 1) look how the weight of the pin deforms the collar (and this is probably a fairly heavy weight shirt)

Do we still need Product Managers? @stripe’s zero-PM strategy lean toward a « no » ❌ Enters Engineering-Driven Development ↓
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Stripe has product managers, as evidenced by their job postings (documented in this tweet twitter.com/far33d/status/… ) A visit to their linkedin page linkedin.com/company/stripe… shows 316 current employees in product management roles
