THE DARK KNIGHT RISES (2012) opens with six minutes of pure IMAX insanity. Nolan actually filmed the aerial sequence with real aircraft, turning Bane’s introduction into a jaw-dropping stunt spectacle that makes most blockbuster openings look tame.
What is the greatest opening sequence in cinema history?
The opening of INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS (2009) is hard to beat. The slow build-up, the unbearable tension and Christoph Waltz controlling every second of that conversation with nothing but his words. By the time the scene ends, Tarantino has you completely hooked.
