If all you have is N20m, you have no business buying a car of N8m. That is already 40% of your life savings. Your car is a depreciating asset. Putting 40% of your life savings into one means: • A large portion of your wealth is immediately at risk of depreciation (often 15–20%+ in the first year). • You have less liquidity for emergencies, investments, or opportunities. • Ongoing costs (insurance, fuel, maintenance) become a bigger burden relative to your remaining resources. Your car should not be more than 10% of your savings. Only buy an N8 million car if you have a savings of N80 million.
