So disappointing to see the Braves brass out there supporting a racist, misogynist, xenophobic wannabe dictator. A man whose policies terrorize our immigrant community, when much of our team is made up of players from the very countries he disparages with words I refuse to repeat

When I celebrate the 4th, it’s our newest Americans I think of most, those who have fled atrocities beyond imagination, who have left everything behind, everything except each other. This is my love note to them: open.substack.com/pub/yogino…

Yesterday we spent the day at the Decatur Housing Authority health fair, debunking myths about dyslexia, sharing resources, and answering parent questions about literacy and learning differences! #SayDyslexia @DDGA13

Beyond excited to see Fran Dunmore from @GOSA_GA present at the GA Literacy Council this week. This slide said it all: parents are key partners in literacy. We are not on the sidelines, we are leading this push in the trenches. We carry the stories. We demand better. Every child deserves to learn to read.

“Parents are the glue that holds all of this together. We are on the frontlines.” 👏 Parents whose children have been hurt by systemic failures will stop at nothing to make change. We would do anything to prevent the harm that’s being inflicted. #Literacyandjusticeforall
You know what no one talks about enough? Parents are the ONLY constant in the literacy fight. Governors change. State admins change. District leadership changes. Parents don’t. We are the historical continuity in the literacy world — and we’re not going anywhere until every child learns to read. @reading_league @NationalParents

I was honored to speak with @cbinkley @AP from my perspective as a parent and advocate for this story. I am grateful for journalists who shine a light on the truth and for the resiliency of our children with dyslexia. apnews.com/article/dyslexia-…

Leadership (or lack thereof) MATTERS.
Ironically our Superintendent in GA has been in office for ten years….what do you notice and wonder about GA during that time period?

Georgia’s current literacy problems are reflective of the poor implementation of our literacy legislation. We picked weak curricula.
We allowed too many options.
Training is inconsistent.
The screening → intervention pipeline is unclear. Meanwhile, states like TN & LA made bold, unified choices—and it’s paying off. Georgia’s kids deserve the same.

Georgia, your "High-Quality Materials" list misses the mark when it ignores usability. The Curriculum Insight Project can't get here soon enough. @CurriculumIP @GaDOEELA @GaDOEsped @NAACPGeorgia

The more closely I look at these curriculum lists, the more baffled I become!! Georgia is no exception. I have so many genuine (and frustrated) questions about this chart, in particular:
Another day, another window into state implementation failure. This time, it’s Georgia on my mind. Two years into curriculum reform efforts, we just got a glimpse of district curriculum selections. Spoiler: it isn’t good. My latest, featuring @Veggievangelist @MissyPurcell.
