Meet Dot, the new Monologue recorder UI
- Stays beside your caret so you know where your text will appear
- Follows you across apps and puts your text where you started
- Moves out of the way when you’re not recording
Available today in Monologue for Mac v1.5.0
Monologue no longer runs on Railway, but an old service did. Following Railway’s security incident, we’ve rotated all potentially exposed API keys.
If you’re having trouble with Monologue on Mac, update to v1.5.2 or sign out and sign back in once.
"Monologue has dramatically sped up my work processes"
~500k words dictated. About 116 hours saved
Thank you, Laura Savino. So glad Monologue is helping

The new “Dot” in @usemonologue by @every might be the biggest quality-of-life upgrade to my workflow in a long time.
It’s also, somehow, my favorite little piece of UI on the entire Mac.
Tiny dot. Ridiculously good product design. I’m addicted.

.@usemonologue now runs on it's own model and it's really good. 100ms median API response time and ~7% word error rate. That's better than every provider's models.
The software is amazing, especially if you're an AI pilled builder, and now the model is too.

We wanted dictation to be both fast and accurate. We couldn’t find a model that met that bar, so we trained and host our own.
Nearly six months later, we’re proud to share it and open access through our enterprise API.
I didn't realize that @usemonologue has their own dictation model until today, but, man, that checks out. It is quite good!

It’s insane to me that all this is being built with a a team of fewer than 4 people 🤯🚀
What a time to be alive!
Introducing mono-1, our in-house dictation model, built to turn natural speech into text you can use.
Against our previous API-based pipeline, mono-1 required about 55% fewer estimated edits and delivered finished dictation 3× faster by median API response time.
Accurate speech recognition is the foundation of good dictation. But good dictation also needs to handle corrections, formatting, context, and writing preferences.
mono-1 is the culmination of six months of development, production testing, and feedback from Monologue users—improving how Monologue recognizes your words, handles corrections, and formats your writing.

A year ago today, we launched monologue
There’s so much we want to build, and I’m excited to keep working on it
To everyone who’s used it, shared it, or told us how to make it better: thank you!
Here’s to year two 🚀
🚨 BREAKING
A new AI app by @every launches today: Monologue
@usemonologue is a smart voice dictation app for Mac that lets you work 3x faster without breaking flow.
It’s already being used by people like @bentossell, @nateliason, and @julien_c to write over 1 million words a week.
Most voice dictation apps flatten your voice. Monologue is different. It understands your vocabulary, your apps, and your style, so nothing gets lost in translation.
What you get:
- Smart formatting: Text comes out polished and structured for the app you’re in—no cleanup needed.
- Personal dictionary: Proper nouns, acronyms, and slang are remembered automatically.
- Deep context: With permission, Monologue sees your screen so it knows what you’re referencing.
- Multilingual by default: Dictate in 100-plus languages and switch between them effortlessly.
- Flexible modes: Use prebuilt workflows (email, docs, notes, code) or design your own.
- Local models: Use Monologue without sending your information to the cloud.
We want @every to be the only subscription you need to stay at the edge of AI.
That's why Monologue is available now for free for @every paid subscribers along with @coracomputer, @sparkleapp, and @tryspiral—all for just $30 / month.
Or you can use Monologue standalone for just $10 / month if you sign up during our early bird period.

I just had a massive dictation breakthrough using Monologue. This is going to sound so ridiculous and so silly and so stupid, but it's the first time I've ever tried writing my email address with my voice and it just worked. OMG. Thx @usemonologue
"It just gets me"
Very cool to hear @wadefoster talk about why he uses Monologue for voice-to-text on @myfirstmilpod
Thanks for the shoutout Wade!
For anyone who dictates with Spotify running in the background: Monologue can automatically pause or mute your audio when you start dictating.
You can turn it on under Settings → Mic & Audio.

The new Dot UI in @usemonologue is really nice. Such a little UI change but it somehow makes the interaction feel so much more intuitive.
