A Han Chinese man who recently fled China to Germany has provided a disturbing account of the treatment of Uyghur prisoners in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, alleging that speaking the Uyghur language is severely restricted, prisoners are subjected to physical punishment and electric shocks, and thousands of Uyghurs remain imprisoned or confined in detention facilities.

Hong Kong Court Sentences Joshua Wong to 10 Years in Prison
Hong Kong’s High Court has sentenced pro-democracy activist Joshua Wong, 30, to 10 years in prison for conspiring to collude with foreign forces under the national security law. Wong, a prominent figure in the 2014 Umbrella Movement and 2019 protests, pleaded guilty to charges linked to calls for international sanctions against China and Hong Kong. Human rights advocates, including Benedict Rogers and Human Rights Watch, condemned the sentence as unjust and excessive.

Opinion: @AbduwelA: Who Is Discomforted by Our Cooperation?
Following the publication of Our Hearts Burn for Our Homeland, co-authored by prominent Chinese American journalist Emily Feng and Uyghur linguist and activist Abduweli Ayup, the book received widespread attention and a largely positive response from readers. It sheds light on one of the most significant and underreported stories of the Uyghur diaspora and the Syrian civil war, highlighting the role Uyghurs played in the events that led to the fall of Bashar al-Assad's regime.
However, the book's publication also sparked negative reactions and personal attacks against the authors on Uyghur-language social media. In response to these criticisms and accusations, one of the authors, Abduweli Ayup, published the following statement:

Editorial: Mao Was a Vicious Dictator. The Uyghurs and Tibetans Paid the Highest Price
Beijing’s own verdict is that Mao made “mistakes.” That word is a cover. A leader who purges critics, starves villages, jails thinkers and seizes other peoples’ homelands is a dictator.
Uyghurs know the cost of that history. The conquest of our homeland began under Mao. The party that still bans the book about the famine is the same party that runs the camps today.

New Uyghur Restaurant to Open in Palatine, Illinois
A new Uyghur restaurant, Kashgar Uyghur Dining, is seeking approval to open at 139 N. Northwest Highway in Palatine, Illinois, bringing traditional Uyghur cuisine and culinary culture to the local community.
Co-owner Rahila Reshid presented the proposal Tuesday before Palatine’s Planning and Zoning Commission. She said the restaurant, which she operates with her husband, Waris Ablimit, will serve authentic Uyghur cuisine and halal food in a family-friendly environment.
The menu will feature traditional Uyghur dishes, including hand-pulled laghman noodles, polo (pilaf), lamb and chicken kebabs, dumplings, soups, naan, and other specialties.
“We hope we can be a long-term part of this community,” Reshid said.
